Re: August 2017: Tracking Harvey/Catastrophic Flooding/Torna
Gotta go out and try to get a pump turned on. Water is getting too close to the back door. Never done this. At least the rain just stopped.

Re: August 2017: Tracking Harvey/Coastal Impacts/Inland Floo
This is not urgent - and I don't know if Jeff Lindner every comes to this forum. I want to give a MAJOR shout-out to him. I heard him talking on KRBE this morning and he was really come across very clear about the weather threats, without overdoing it for the Houston folks. It's obviously difficult ...

Re: August 2017: Tracking Harvey/Coastal Impacts/Inland Floo
My husband heard on the radio just now of mandatory evacuations for all coastal counties. Is this correct? I am in Brazoria county. We are totally hurricane (evacuation) prepared, but I haven't seen anything about Brazoria Co. and wondering if the radio station was exaggerating. Please advise, Than...

Re: August 2017: Tracking Harvey/Coastal Impacts/Inland Floo
thank you! It was a GOES image, and I found the site! :-) Someone posted a satellite image of Harvey a page or so ago - it was one of the last images posted. I would like to verify this image - can you please post where you found it? When I clicked on it, it sent me to an imagur site, without any id...

Re: August 2017: Tracking Harvey/Coastal Impacts/Inland Floo
I'm getting worried about potential impacts to the southwest side of Houston. I made a joke earlier that Harvey was going to come straight up 59. However, if it really does seem to be moving in from that side - it puts my area on the edge of some rough weather. I'd like to be able to warn my neighbo...

That HAS to impact the next model runs, right?jasons wrote: Perhaps the most
significant finding of the aircraft is that the center was to the

Re: August 2017: Tracking Harvey/Coastal Impacts/Inland Floo
Why so much trouble with predictions as it nears the coast?
1) because it's the GOM which is notoriously troublesome?
2) because of a frontal passage or trough?
3) because it's too far out to predict well?
4) some other reason?

Re: August 2017: Tracking Harvey/Coastal Impacts/Inland Floo
I am in awwwwwwweeee with this run. What is this 2/3 straight days of this making landfall then coming back into the GoM and then strengthening into a full blown hurricane only to make landfall again on the Tx/La border area? This is just insane! David - you're in Sugar Land - I am in southwest Hou...

Re: August 2017: Rain Chances/ TS Franklin Nearing BoC
I heard a forecaster say that the low was going to drift back over town and we are due to get more heavy rain. I just wanted to see if that's the general consensus here?
thanks.

Re: June 2017: TS Cindy/Tropical Storm Warning Issued
Agreed. I don't think it's the NWS or NHC or even the city government that is at fault here. I just think that people/companies/institutions have become quite complacent. We've had so many near misses that people just figure this is another one, as indeed, it might be. Re the experimental products: ...

Re: June 2017: TS Cindy/Tropical Storm Warning Issued
Unfortunately, we usually have to wait for the UH System to make any announcements like this. And they can be a bit slow... we are usually one of the last to find out if we are closing. Last year we had an incident where the university didn't announce closing until well after most employees were alr...

Re: June 2017: TS Cindy/Tropical Storm Watch/Warning Issued
So... even though the center could pass right over Houston, there seems to be little in the way of concern. I guess it's because most of the rain is in the NE quadrant? But I've been reading observations that the west side is filling in, is that correct? And that it's taking on more traditional trop...
