Re: April 2024

I actually like the wind. It makes warm spring days feel cooler. I wish there were more wind here in the early and mid Fall: late September through mid November. It’s bad when you live out in the open like I do but when you live in town or the city you barely notice it. I’m fine with the wind up to...

Re: April 2024

We were lucky Tuesday night. A hail cell was heading our way, turned south and fizzled. It must have been the tarp I put over the car. 8-)

Re: April 2024

0.89 inches for the multi day event. Good enough. There was that break in the clouds that allowed partial eclipse observation. But we would have had to drive to Lampasas to avoid cloud cover and see a total eclipse.

Re: April 2024

Well, that first line was weak. I put tarp over one of the cars. That was the clincher. The hail core turned right and dissipated.

That MCV east of San Antonio has bad intentions. I think it's going to slip south of here.

Re: April 2024

Couple shots I got with my phone and the cheap NASA filter glasses. https://i.ibb.co/9tLFY8r/20240408-134208.jpg https://i.ibb.co/KGzSGV0/20240408-134647.jpg We did miraculously get a break in the clouds in CLL before the line of storms that allowed us to see 90% totality. Just a thin crescent. Wel...

Welp. The sun is out here in CLL. A reverse Lucy?

I see some breaks in the clouds. We could have gotten lucky N of SA?

Re: April 2024

NWS has an 80% chance of rain here tomorrow - they've been steadily going up. Just watched KPRC-2 and they only have a 30%. The TV models don't show much until Tuesday - all north of here tomorrow. Interesting... The low clouds rolled in about 7 pm tonight heading NW to shroud the eclipse path. Thi...

Re: April 2024

I am not liking Monday's weather. Tomorrow doesn’t really look like much of anything. Tuesday should be the day, particularly Tuesday evening into early Wednesday. Clouds have Eclipsed the viewing party. Today or yesterday or the day before or the day before would have been good. https://m1o.pivota...

Re: April 2024

The only real chance for eclipse viewing from Waco south is a line of storms that temporarily cleans up the mess.

115 days - named stored days. That's 3.5+ months of nearly continuous action. Crazy. The GoM could be wide open for business.

Re: April 2024

Unfortunately, I booked a room north of San Antonio. I experienced an eclipse in Greenville, NC back in the day. I had a 3 inch refractor telescope and my Dad and I set up a straight optical line (we removed the eyepiece) leading into a box to view the image. We set up on a staging area on campus u...

Re: April 2024

Potentially clouds and rain could interfere with viewing the April 8 eclipse...but the rain will likely be light.

So, my long term progs are

1. Another dry Spring

2. Mega tropical season and potential landfall in the western Gulf (TX, LA) of multiple major hurricanes.
