You still have plants worth covering?!? I think Tuesday got pretty much everything that wasn't inside, but I haven't checked our greenhouse and tool shed yet. The frigid weather even got a hummingbird.

Re: JANUARY 2018 - Chilly Weather Returns Late Week

love we are having a winter. Give us 10 more weeks and yall will get your dreadful humidity and heat back. ticka, we live in a sub-tropical climate. There's a reason we have warm to hot weather most of the time. Having spent 47 of my 50 years of life here, this is the weather I'm acclimated to. Col...

Re: JANUARY 2018 - Tracking Arctic Cold/Hard Freeze/Wind Chi

Interesting that this week, as with the last snow event, we had more snow detected south of the Houston area than in the Houston metro area. Good old southeast Texas weather!!

Re: December 2017: Christmas Cold / Ice Across Texas?

I would look for those temps to be much colder if an arctic HP of that size comes roaring down the lee side of the Rockies. Just this morning, I had 28 degrees at my house with ice over everything and that was with yesterday's frontal passage. It seems like just about every cold front this season h...

Re: December 2017: Pattern Change/Much Colder Weather Possib

Well, that was quite a surprise. We got about an inch and a half last night in northern Brazoria County. Enjoyed a 2-hour power outage, too. Oh, and on top of that, after getting back to bed after checking how widespread the outage was, the smoke detector decided it needed new batteries! :| Anyway, ...

Wow! It's been a while since we had a storm like that!! Three power outages in the span of about 15 minutes. Things have moved out, and cooled down. 66 deg. F here in Brazoria Co. with a northwest wind at about 7 MPH. The pups are telling me it's wet outside, no way they're going out now!!

Re: Satellite Archive Database 1980 To 2009

That'll be cool to look at when I have some time. I've always wanted to see what the final track of Ike was. We evacuated to what was essentially a shelter (actually an empty store room with several hundred pets) for the storm, and then came home to no power for two weeks. So when power was back on,...

Oh, it's through the Pearland/Friendswood area, based on wind direction and pressure, but we're still waiting for that dry air. It's currently 75 deg-F and 82% humidity.

Re: July 2017 - Increasing Weekend Rain/Storm Chances

I was watching the radarange today, and biding my time so I could go mow the lawn before the rains hit. I watched as one storm heading our way kind of blew itself out, and the approaching storms looked like they had probably an hour to make it here. I got about 1/3 way through the back yard when it ...

Re: July 2017 - Isolated Rain/Storm Chances

And then there's that whole 30-day waiting period provision ;-) It's been a couple of decades, so I forgot that little 'feature'! IIRC, we got notification that we had to get the flood insurance in like late September or early October, in the peak of the season. By the time we got ready to make the...
