Re: January 2019 - Rain/Storms & Strong Cold Front

<SNIP> Happens almost every year. You just can’t trust the models beyond 5 days. The NWS has now raised me overnight lows to 34/33 this weekend. Not even a freeze now. I’ll decide on Saturday if I need to cover anything up. [/quote] We're enjoying the 'warming trend' in the forecast, too. We'll pro...

Re: December 2018: Friday/Saturday Heavy Rainfall Potential

Looks like Pearland Regional, which is in spitting distance from our house, got about 3.8”. The yard was full of water for a while last night.

Re: December 2018: Friday/Saturday Heavy Rainfall Potential

Cold front has passed DW Hooks Interesting! You can just make out the line amongst the overriding precip. I do, though, hope most of it stays north of us. Our back yard _just_ got so that there was no standing water. I fear our 'Pearland pumps' (rubber rain boots) will be needed to set foot out the...

Re: December 2018: Will the Arctic air return?

Well, hopefully that precip map is a little optimistic, or too far west!! I think we _just_ got to the point there is no visible standing water in the yard. Hoping to be able to mow some weeds mid-week!

Re: Meteor over Austin, now one over Clear Lake?

We were sitting in the hot tub last night and I saw one over northern Brazoria county about 2030-2100. It was headed northeastward, and was a nice, long burn of probably two to three seconds. Didn’t see any more, though, at all.

Re: NOVEMBER 2018: Slow Warming Trend/Thanksgiving Outlook

And I'm wishcasting that the models are wrong! We finally got a good crop of oranges and grapefruit this year. Praying we don't get a setback with freezing weather this fall/winter.

Re: NOVEMBER 2018: Cold & Breezy/Freeze Possible Wednesday

I was just about to post “this weather is miserable” until I saw the posts about snow. So I’ll correct it to “this weather feels miserable”... Nope, the weather is miserable. We start covering plants this afternoon after work. Probably pull the staghorn fern down and put it in the toolshed this wee...

Re: NOVEMBER 2018: Chilly Wt Weekend/Colder Next Week

Got over 2 inches of rain last night Not looking forward to this cold front...at all... The rain gauge on our brand new Acurite weather station that we got to replace the failed Acurite 5-in-1 weather station we had is still not working, so we got 0.00" of rain yesterday. One of the pups, howe...

Re: NOVEMBER 2018: Rollercoaster Changeable WX Pattern Ahead

I may as well set fire to my St Augustine yard. Brown patch has lost its mind with all the rain this year and chemical control has done absolutely nothing to slow it down, let alone stop it. 75% of my yard is orange now. and I thought University of Texas' color came from the steer. More like brown ...

I don't remember if I have donated to this forum, or not, I do support others, and will apologize right now if I haven't done my duty. That said, I would be happy to support a new forum with periodic donations, but would think that putting such a forum behind a paywall would lead to it's rapid demis...

Re: OCTOBER 2018 - First Fall Cold Front/Cool & Damp WX

Wow! I think I can see the tornado on the NWS radar loop for Relative velocity. If it's what I think it is, it's a little circle at the base of the warning area.

Re: OCTOBER 2018 - Tracking The Tropics/Fall Cold Front

This system is producing some extremely cold cloud tops and recon flight level readings of 130kts. Maybe a high end cat 4 or more at landfall if it keeps strengthening??? just kept thinking it may go 4 It may have enough local energy to do that, but there’s a some pretty high wind shear around it a...

Re: OCTOBER 2018 - Rain Chances Continue

Folks fretting over cool/cold weather on October 2nd need not worry too much. Cold/wintry weather is looking more and more likely as we get closer and closer to Thanksgiving and then December 1st. Some of the analogs I am inspecting as a possibility suggest we may see frequent bouts of cold and win...

Re: OCTOBER 2018 - Rain Chances Continue

You and me both. Not sure what to make of this fall. Havent even seen any love bugs which is REALLY strange. Not sure what that means but has to mean something. A friend of mine posted a picture a few weeks ago of a persimmon seed. Something about a spoon in it means a cold harsh winter and a fork ...
