Re: MAY 2019: Active WX Week Ahead. Storms/Heavy Rains
I know a person who is a first responder, and to here them tell it tonight was one of the most intense nights in their multi-year career. Rain so intense it reduces visibility to a few feet, lighting so intense it turns everything blue, constant lighting barrages (sometimes less than a football fiel...

Re: MAY 2019: Active WX Week Ahead. Storms/Heavy Rains
I have to say over in the Highlands area I am amazed at the storm. Not raining yet, but there is so much lightning it looks like there is a massive strobe light in the clouds. There is a continuous non-stop low roar from the thunder.

Re: March 2019: Slow Warming Trend/Weekend Showers?
The plant is on fire again. Weather seems much warmer, drier, and with weaker winds than vs the first fire... I wonder what effects this will have.

Re: FEBRUARY 2019: Cold Front & Storm Chances
When I looked at the weather forecast on my phone this morning and observed a 50% chance of rain here and there I did not think that meant basically 100% chance of rain everywhere all day, which is what I've experienced. I love the rain, but must admit the weather has been putting a damper on my jog...

Re: How Should We Proceed?
I wouldn't mind moving the community to Storm2k, if they would be willing to let us have a southeast Texas subforum or thread. I know many of us, weather professionals and lay folk, already frequent that forum. Storm2k seemed eager and welcoming enough to accept us when the KHOU suddenly went down a...

Re: July 2018: Slow Drying Trend Expected/Here Comes The Hea
Here's something random because I don't see this every day. Riding along the east belt and then I-10 east this morning, you can see cumulus clouds (the only ones in the sky this early) forming out of the smokestacks from the chemical plants all along the ship channel. Quite a fascinating sight to s...

Re: JUNE 2018: Heavy Rainfall Possible Through Wednesday
Currently raining in the Clear Lake area, adding to the 1.5 inches we've received for this event so far. Looking at HGX it seems a whole lot more is own its way:

Re: JANUARY 2018 - Winter Storm Warning/Advisory For Tuesday
Moderate to heavy sleet has given away to light snow in the Nassau Bay Area. Grass and small puddles starting to freeze. Ice (including icicles) accumulating on buildings, cars, and trees. Roofs taking on that "frosted/snowy" look. Roads look okay given they're are tons of cars on them at ...

Re: August 2017: Tracking Harvey/Catastrophic Flooding/Torna
I mentioned that there should be reporting of the dam releasing water to relieve the flooding danger two days ago. However only now on August 27 at 8:40pm it was announced that the two reservoirs (Baken and Addick) would start to release water on Monday August 28 at 2am. Why would it not done earli...

Re: August 2017: Tracking Harvey/Coastal Impacts/Inland Floo
I'm worried about this Jeff guy that has been live streaming from Rockport. He was last seen sheltering next to a Walmart. Those are lightly constructed buildings. Big box stores have a poor record in storms. Unless he broke into the auto bay and is sheltering below ground in the oil change pit I fe...

Re: August 2017: Tracking Harvey/Coastal Impacts/Inland Floo
Was supposed to head to Bolivar this weekend (VRBO rental), anyone think it would still be ok to head down and ride out the storm? Not a great idea. There are two ways off the Bolivar peninsula: the ferry and highway 87. The high tides/storm surge will shut down the ferry and flood highway 87 long ...
