Re: January 2025

My son’s private school facility called me earlier to say that they got “new information” and will be staying open tomorrow. Did I miss something? I told her no we won’t be venturing out on to the roadways. Not sure where you are, but this is the latest information League City They’re in Pearland

Re: January 2025

Most of my colleagues are in other parts of the country, namely the east coast. This morning on our weekly call they told me to stretch before I started shoveling the snow. I said “shoveling?!” Lol

Correct if I’m wrong but this is only till the early morning hours on Tuesday. Still need more time for the entire event to come into picture.

Here’s an idea. Crowd sourced weather data and weather forecasting. I wonder if this type of an app has been considered. I’d start working on it but I’m no good at coding.

Re: January 2025

iPhone weather app giving me almost 6” of snow on 1/22. Remember those apps will swing wildly with each model run. :) Oh I know I’ve been looking at it the last few days and it’ll show up and then poof gone only to show up again. Feels like the geico commercial. “You gotta be quicker than that!”

Re: January 2025

If this current weather had supported frozen precip, we’d be in serious trouble. It’s pouring and very gusty in League City. This would’ve been wild if it had been something other than cold rain.

Appears front may also be over performing. It’s five degrees cooler in Wichita than what was forecasted at this time by the ECMWF. This is just the initial surge too. It’s also a few degrees cooler than the GFS, ICON, and HRRR.

Re: January 2025

Not a meteorologist but I don’t think models handle Arctic air masses well. I know this is not 2021 but the news stations didn’t catch on to the storm until about 4 days out. The had us warmer which was incorrect. Once the first storm system moved through the Midwest and dumps its snow, the next sh...

The wind picked up for about 5 minutes. I’ve seen worse but saw what just like a lot of clouds to the east. I think this was the actual tornado. If so, passed only a couple miles south of me.
