Re: September 2022
Hallelujah, it's September! Even if the temperatures might still be hot, and the rainfall minimal, there's a distinct change of mood on this Day. The shadows are casting longer. Hope begins for that first slight taste of Fall. I wait for this day, every year. Now, I can put the dreaded endless days ...

Re: August 2022
DoctorMu and Stratton20, I feel your pain. I am about 75 miles East & slightly South of You. It has been a long time since the grass has been crunchy. I live on acreage, with a water well. We don't water the grass. We worry about the Well running dry, in times like these! My property actually ba...

Re: August 2021: Watching the NW Caribbean/Western Gulf
I texted my Son-in-Law, last night, and told him he probably should get his generator in running order (gasoline powered - appliances only). I also checked in with my Brother, who lives in Deer Park. He had ordered his Generac "whole house" generator after the big Freeze, in February. They...

Re: August 2021
My Daughter is in downtown Boston. Her and co-workers decided to check in to Hotel, yesterday, vs driving from Pawtuckett, RI today. Their conference starts tomorrow. So far, so good. I know the next several hours will be "interesting" for her! I appreciate all the replies to my post a cou...

Re: August 2021
Good Evening All, I have been watching Fred, and of course Grace. I had heard a few mentions of Henri; but, really wasn't paying attention to a system so far removed from us. This afternoon it suddenly hit me: my Daughter is leaving for Boston, tomorrow afternoon. This is a working trip, with a coup...

Re: April 2021
Yesterday was such a gorgeous Spring Day! I had errands to run, and decided to have my truck cleaned up, while I was out. The car detail shop was packed! As I was waiting, the Weather Channel was playing on the TV in the lobby. They were discussing how this weekend was a very boring pattern for most...

Re: February 2021: Arctic Outbreak/Warmup Begins
Week before last, I was about to call a plumber for a minor plumbing issue, that has been ongoing for a few months. Nothing serious, more of an annoyance. I guess that call will wait! I have some Pampas Grass that my late husband had planted, just prior to his passing. I'm not sure if those plants w...

Re: February 2021: Arctic Outbreak/Warmup Begins
I know there has been previous discussions/speculation about Snow events following active Hurricane seasons. I am curious to know if anyone has looked at Snow Events as a pre-cursor to an active Hurricane Season?

Re: February 2021: Arctic Outbreak/Hard Freeze Warning ⚠️
Fingers crossed this will be the last "Hard Freeze" of this event. I've got just about 1 more night's worth of energy to get up and run faucets, every few hours. I feel like I have a newborn baby, without the cuddles of having a newborn baby...This Grandma is getting too old for this!

Re: February 2021: Arctic Outbreak/Hard Freeze Warning ⚠️
Now seriously thinking about a natural gas or propane generator. Am worried about the cost but... Mine was about $9k...in 2008. Because, we are on a well, when the electricity goes out...we also lose water. After suffering through several Hurricane aftermaths, I took the plunge and got one installe...

Re: February 2021: Arctic Outbreak/Hard Freeze Warning ⚠️
Did you lose power with a whole house generator? We are thinking of purchasing one. No, mine automatically switches over to running on propane. Because we are "rural", we don't have city utilities (water, natural gas, etc). So, ours is Propane. Honestly, one of the best investments, ever.

Re: February 2021: Arctic Outbreak/Hard Freeze Warning ⚠️
Starting to Snow, again...let's hope it remains snow. We really lucked out with the Ice. All of the pine trees were very "frosted" and just starting to droop, then the sun came out and temps warmed slightly. I only lost power yesterday, from about 8:00 am till right at 8:00 pm. I have a wh...

Re: February 2021: Arctic Outbreak/Winter Storm Warning ⚠️
I haven't read ALL the posts; so, ignore if this is a repeat. Be sure to remove any water/sodas/food from your vehicles! I am the world's worst for leaving a half empty water bottle in my truck's cup holder. Starting to see some "baby" icicles from my roof. Yall stay Safe & Warm!
