I can't believe how intense this has become this close to landfall. Atleast Katrina peaked mid-day and hit the next morning. Laura is peaking super-close to landfall.

I'm a bit surprised the NHC remained as far east in the 11am track. They don't seem to be buying the westward shift of the EURO. They think that ridging will break down. They do mention the likelihood of rapid strengthening in the Gulf however, and have Laura coming ashore as a dangerous 90 kt+ hurr...

As of 2am, Laura is now over the Caribbean Sea south of eastern Cuba. Looks like Stewart has the 5am discussion.

I must say, I'm very impressed with Laura's continued organization in the face of Puerto Rico, Hispaniola and Cuba. The upper-level divergence over the top of Laura is insane.

GFS has shifted Northeast a bit.
