Glad everyone got some rain. My 10-day forecast is dry. This time next week I’ll be running sprinklers again.
Nothing came of those popup showers until they got to Louisiana. My grass needs water already, time to run the sprinklers as expected. .

Ahh, yes, and the screen handle had a different meaning back then ;) Some of the old timers know mine has changed, a few times now.

Re: April 2024

My interest in the weather really began in 1977, I was a young kiddo in Tampa, Florida and it snowed. I lived in Riverview, specifically, near the east shore of Hillsborough Bay, and we experienced ‘bay effect snow’ - probably the rarest weather phenomena you can experience in Florida besides a habo...

Re: April 2024

Got 1.99” here which was close to WPC projections. Intense lightning show and debris (small branches) in the yard. I saw the training in East Texas - it doesn’t take long for those totals to pile-up. Glad everyone got some rain. My 10-day forecast is dry. This time next week I’ll be running sprinkle...

Re: April 2024

Bummer. Solid line forms to my north literally as it passes over me, just early enough in the day to jack-up the eclipse without the beneficial rain…and oh look…breaks in the clouds to the south. The sun will probably come out just when the eclipse is over.

Thick clouds here now. Had some breaks earlier. Looks like folks on the northern arc of the eclipse (Kerrville, etc.) are getting lucky.

Re: April 2024

NWS has an 80% chance of rain here tomorrow - they've been steadily going up.

Just watched KPRC-2 and they only have a 30%. The TV models don't show much until Tuesday - all north of here tomorrow. Interesting...

Re: April 2024

A lot of us got nailed in June of last year. Lots of wind damage. I was just thinking about that storm yesterday.

Almost like summer this afternoon.

If you want to see the eclipse, head to northern Maine. Even Ohio and Indiana are starting to look iffy.

It sure it a nice day here today, though.

Re: April 2024

Looking more and more like the weather is going to spoil the viewing in Texas.

The big story next week will be the economic losses associated with the weather. Texas was expected to bring in a total of $1.4 billion in revenue related to eclipse-related activities. I don’t see how that’s possible now.

Re: April 2024

Unfortunately, I booked a room north of San Antonio. I experienced an eclipse in Greenville, NC back in the day. I had a 3 inch refractor telescope and my Dad and I set up a straight optical line (we removed the eyepiece) leading into a box to view the image. We set up on a staging area on campus u...

Re: April 2024

I hope the weather works out next Monday but it’s not looking great. Honestly, unless you’ve invested something into the event (hotel, camping, etc) we don’t have anything to complain about. It’s a bonus event for us. Think about folks from places like Germany who invested thousands to fly here. Th...
