Re: February 2022
It could be interesting midweek as models continue to show the frontal boundary stalling across the central part of SE Texas. If the GFS is right on Thursday places like College Station could be in the 30s while the Houston area could be in the 70s. With that said, I wouldn't be surprised if the fr...

Re: February 2022
I am not holding out hope for this week. We need to watch the February 28-March 3 time frame for the cold weather. Precipitation is another story.

Re: February 2022
It appears the 12z Euro has delayed the arctic airs arrival until around the 28th, not good when a model delays something, but it also breaks down the SE Ridge and allows the arctic air to spill into SE Texas That is what my thinking was that the arctic air wouldn’t arrive until the week of Februar...

Re: February 2022
Look like from what I watched with the YouTube posted on the board, all of the nasty wintry weather will stay to our north and it may get cold but not bitterly cold. My wife’s friend pipes bursted from the 2021 freeze and she still has not moved back in her house. even though we all want to see snow...

Re: February 2022
I think it was the Feb 28- March 3 where our region may see bitterly cold weather and frozen precipitation , not necessarily next week. That what I got from Larry Cosgrove post today.

Prolonged cold air would cause issue by itself even without freezing precipitation

Re: February 2022
This is crazy how it was looking like winter was over after the last cold snap but how quickly forecast can change. I saw Channel 11 David Paul showing the viewers that during the Feb 28-March 3 period, we could see an Arctic airmass drive Al the way down to our region. The forecast will change a lo...

Re: March 2022
I not going to say no way that pans out but that is not likely the model run comes true this far out but I have seen some long range forecast driving cold air to our region.

Re: February 2022
I think for the Houston area to get chance at Wintery precipitation, we would need to have our current atmosphere not warm back up into the 60s -70s this week. When the last front arrived, the cooling of the atmosphere took longer which is the reason we dodged major issue when the precipitation star...

Re: Winter Long Range Discussion
That is dangerous cold weather oddly enough around the same time as 2021Stratton20 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 1:35 pm The 12z GFS does suggest the potential for another strong front around the 13th or so, cant go int any details but just something to watch, 12z Euro also showing a strong front on day 10

Re: February 2022
I guess since this is it for this version of Winter, wondering if there are any other possibilities of winter weather the next couple of weeks?

Re: February 2022
It has .10+ inch of ice accumulation along and north of the 59 corridor. If that were to verify that would reach the criteria for winter storm warnings around here. That type of ice would cause major issue. David Paul ch 11 mentioned that every run is coming in colder so that would mean I longer dur...

Re: February 2022
So the Weather Channel app has me in Spring at a 40% chance of Light Freezing Rain for Thursday. That is surprising Guess those fake maps weren't all that fake lol I am a conservative person that wants all fact put together before putting it out there for the public to see. Also I know these foreca...

Re: February 2022
Just being curious, I was looking at models on pivotal weather and nothing stands out for winter precipitation for at least Houston this week. They all keep it up north and northeast Texas. So I don’t know where people are getting these models that show ice or snow for Houston especially when the l...
