Re: July Weather Discussion
When is the rain going to clear out of here? Things may try to settle down later this evening but additional rounds of rain will be possible through tomorrow morning. The axis of deepest moisture will be slowly shifting west away from the metro area slowly over the next 12--18 hours which should sl...

It is amazing how heavy rain continues to re-develop across northern Brazoria and southern Ft. Bend counties after all of the activity we have already seen across these areas. Latest radar once again showing a slow increase in convection across the aforementioned areas moving north and northwest int...

Re: July Weather Discussion
Looks like we may be getting into a training situation for this afternoon again in Brazoria, Matagorda, Ft. Bend, Wharton, and eventually into S/SW/NW Harris County including parts of the Houston Metro west of Downtown ... just based on radar trends .... doesn't look too good. Would not be surprise...

Re: July Weather Discussion
Interesting morning with scattered showers developing and moving northwest across the area. PW"s remain extremely high for this time of year, so these showers are going to be proficient rain makers. Going to have to keep an eye on the training situation through the morning as it looks like the ...

Rain slowly tapering off across the region this evening. 00z RAOB from CRP shows a PW value of 3.0''! I do not remember ever seeing precip water values that high before. LCH is currently sitting at a dry 2.44'' . The latest RUC mesoanalysis shows PW's in the 2.6-2.8'' range across southeast Te...

Showers and storms re-developing across Brazoria and southern Galveston counties where there had been a break for about an hour with additional activity poised to train across southern Harris county over Galveston Bay at this time. We will probably be looking at a flash flood waring for Harris count...

Re: July Weather Discussion
Really starting to get concerned about tonight and and tomorrow as models have been indicating a surface boundary and upper level disturbance to work with which could really allow for some deep convection to develop across the region. Much of the area along and south of I-10 will have likely receive...

Watching storm mergers occurring across western Brazoria and eastern Matagorda county that will be lifting northwest into southern Wharton county over the next hour. Rain rates in the 2'' per hour range will likely be occurring across these areas. Another area of increasing convection is across sout...

Re: CAT 2 Hurricane Alex. 55 Miles NE of La Pesca. 100 MPH/9
Alex continues to strengthen has he approaches the coast. The latest radar data shows that he might have slowed down a bit recently. You can see additional strong thunderstorm activity developing right around the eye on the latest visible sat loops which would point toward some higher wind speeds ri...

Re: Hurricane Alex. 145 Miles E of La Pesca. 80 MPH/961 MB
Yeah, it does still look like the center will be south of Brownsville but it is going to be closer than first thought. It will be interesting to see what the 1pm update from the NHC says about the track.

Re: Hurricane Alex. 145 Miles E of La Pesca. 80 MPH/961 MB
Looking at the latest visible floater look, the storm looks to be north of NHC track and continuing northwest. It will be interesting to watch and see when it decided to make that turn more to the west-northwest; however even if it does turn west soon, the track could have to be adjusted to the nort...

You might see some rain, but unless the showers over northwest Harris county can manage to develop more, I think any significant weather should pass to your north.

Re: June Weather Discussion
Model soundings show a dry slow at around 750mb over the Houston area along with PW's down to 1.68'' which is suppressing any type of shower and thunderstorm development at this time. Soundings for Huntsville show PW's right around 2.00'' with a very moist profile. As far as the severe threat is con...

Re: June Weather Discussion
Not sure how much rain will be able to develop over areas south of I-10 as it looks like there is some dry air being pulled northward across our southern counties which looks to be capping those areas off for the most part. There is a small line of activity trying to develop south through Waller and...

Re: June Weather Discussion
I'm not really sure why there are no flash flood watches in effect for at least western sections of the HGX CWA. The watch placement looks really silly with HGX standing still... Even though flash flood guidance values are still pretty high, I could see enough reason to issue a flood watch at least...
