Re: July: Increasing Heavy Rain Chances & Potential Flood Th
As Jeff mentioned...am concerned that heavier rain may begin to organize closer to the US 59 corridor across portions of the metro area over the next several hours. On another note, there is a ton of lightning associated with the thunderstorms across western Matagorda into southern Jackson county.

Re: July: Increasing Heavy Rain Chances & Potential Flood Th
Showers and thunderstorms developing pretty much like what was advertised by most of the high resolution models yesterday afternoon and evening. Activity continues to slowly increase in coverage and spread inland out of our coastal counties where rain rates up to 2-3 inches per hour have been noted ...

Re: March 2012- In Like a Lamb (here)?
Not much change this evening with the 00z GFS in regards to precip timing on Thursday. I am not buying the GFS's solution of hanging up the upper low over northwest Texas through the end of next weekend at this time and will be siding closer to the ECMWF's more progressive solution at this time. It ...

Re: March 2012- In Like a Lamb?
It looks like the country will get a break from all of the active weather this weekend through early next week before the next storm system develops out west. 00z GFS continues the trend started by the 18z run this afternoon of developing a cut-off low across the Four-Corners region early Wednesday,...

Re: February: Slight Risk Severe Storms 2/3-4. Heavy Rainfal
Circulation looks to be weakening some as it has broadened out, still very heavy rain, hail and strong winds along with additional tornadoes possible in the College Station area over the next hour. KCLL just reported 1.24'' of rain in the last 50min!

Re: February: Slight Risk Severe Storms 2/3-4. Heavy Rainfal
Getting reports of a possible tornado on the ground near Snook. It looks to be located 5 miles southwest of KCLL moving northeast around 10-15mph. If it remains on the ground it will likely come very close to the airport and Texas A&M. Hail core currently approaching the west and southwest sides...

Re: February: Slight Risk Severe Storms 2/3-4. Heavy Rainfal
Most impressive velocity signature of the day with some strong rotation not very far above the ground. It looks like it might have just missed Snook to the northwest. I would bet that there is at least a funnel cloud with this storm.

Re: February: Showers/Storms Possible Through Early Next Wee
No real changes to my previous thinking after examining the latest model data. The atmosphere will become moderately unstable across southeast Texas during the day on Friday; however all of the best lift will be off to the northwest of the region which is where the greatest risk for severe weather w...

Re: February: Showers/Storms Possible Through Early Next Wee
Any further info on the severe wx dynamics for Friday? My main attention this morning has been with assessing the thunderstorm potential for this afternoon as the 12z progs and high resolution models have been suggesting some decent instability around the region. Currently watching strong thunderst...

Re: January: Slight Risk Severe Storms 1/24-25 / With Heavy
Thanks for the information. I'm wondering if it's going to be so bad that school will be cancelled. Since the worst of the weather isn't forecast to move through the metro are...

Re: January: Slight Risk Severe Storms 1/24-25 / With Heavy
Latest mesoanalysis indicates shear continues to increase across the region this evening. Seeing a slow increase in showers between SAT and HOU which is usually an indication of the arrival of stronger large scale lift. Very strong jet dynamics are starting to spread into the state from the west wit...
