Re: February 2025
Currently 26 degrees here at the house near Lake Conroe with a wind chill of 14. I've been running around in a short sleeve shirt today while out doing errands. Not giving in....

Re: February 2025
Good solid front but nothing unusual. This should be the last big front of the season as we transition towards Spring. Looking forward to it.

Re: February 2025
Stratton should have stuck to his earlier prediction of winter being over. The yellow jasmine vines are now blooming in the trees and my sweet olives have budded out along with weeds. Come on Spring!

Re: February 2025
I meant Valentines Day obviously.lol I'm gonna have to agree with Jason...just too much cold air wishcasting going on. Yes we will have more cold fronts but nothing unusual for this time of year. The one around Valentine's Day will be good enough for me to get my fireplace fired up, which I enjoy bu...

Re: February 2025
GFS shows nothing earth shattering over the next 2 weeks. A decent quick hitter cold front right before Thanksgiving and that’s about it.

Re: February 2025
Wow, upper 2b’s/low 30’s for low temps for mid February at the coldest!! Absolutely nothing abnormal for that. It will be a quick shot if that.

Re: February 2025
Not going to happen with the arctic air making it down here. Models were showing last week it would be the end of the first week of February. Then the models pushed it back and now models are showing the second half of February. Usually that is a strong sign of it not even happening. I’m perfectly f...

Re: February 2025
Completely agree with Stratton. I’ve been watching things closely since my last post and looks like we are done, at least with any arctic fronts or wintry precipitation.

Re: February 2025
Yep, the first week of February give or take we could see a big arctic front come down with a noisy jet stream. I wouldn’t rule out wintry weather across the state during this time period. After that I think we are done. Come on flip flops and hot weather!

Getting hammered good with snow near Lake Conroe. All the vehicle's are white and the ground is turning white. Very beautiful sight.

Re: January 2025
I woke up to blue bird skies and now it is solid gray overcast. Fingers crossed all of us cash in on some snow and this system over performs for a large chunk of the area. It is VERY hard to forecast snow down here and even more so, how much. One heavy 30 minute band can drop 2 inches quick! I'm see...

Re: January 2025
Respectfully, screw Houston. lol I’ve lived in Conroe since 1999 and have missed just about every winter weather event with the exception of the 2021 deep freeze. Here we go again. Maybe I rely on the HRRR a bit too hard but it seems to be right about 98% of the time. We will see.

Re: January 2025
I don’t hug every model run, that would be rediculous but when you are within 24 hours of said event and the short term models are showing what they are showing, well, not good at all. This is just fact. Please come back here and tell me I am wrong after this STORM is over.

Re: January 2025
Jeff will adjust his forecast accordingly after seeing the latest short term models. At this point you can go ahead and throw out the GFS, CMC, Euro etc and concentrate on the short term models, specifically the HRRR. Not good at all if you are north of I-10 and maybe even a little south of that.

Re: January 2025
Just as I figured. The HRRR is the one to watch and it suppresses all the snow WAY south to coastal counties and wouldn’t be surprised on the next run that it sends it all offshore. Huge disappointment in the models giving everyone hope on a bunch of snow. Historic? Not even close. Can’t make this c...

RGEM seems to always overdue amounts. I’m interested in the HRRR at this point and nothing else.

Re: January 2025
Yep, starting to get strong 2004 vibes with a solid cutoff line for snow around The Woodlands and points south getting all the snow/wintry precipitation.
