Well if you believe the poles are warming, one would expect more severe Arctic outbreaks more frequently due to volatility and in places one would not typically see them. In reality, it’s not as simple as I just mad...

Re: October cold front--time for change....

Half the state is in either in moderate to extreme drought. A weak TS moving at a steady pace from Brownsville to Lubbock would be welcome.

Re: FEBRUARY 2019: "WINTER" Continues

Not for me it hasn’t and I’ve been following meteorologists and the weather for 31 years. Yeah, well you’re probably older than me lol I haven’t been following it for half that long. This winter was hyped up way too much. It’s just an average winter honestly to me. My point is I don’t consider this...

Re: How Should We Proceed?

Two things. 1) A big thank you to all the professionals and just regular weather nerds (said with affection) who have contributed here over many years. I grew up in Houston and my interest in weather is directly related to experiencing so much of it while living in Texas. I've lived in locations (LA...

Re: Update: KHOU Weather Forum IS Back..for now

Another big "NO" on Facebook forum.

There are cheap options and I'd be surprised & disappointed if KHOU couldn't figure something out. I'm guessing the web traffic isn't that consistent here, but like I said there are inexpensive platforms.

Re: OCTOBER 2018 - First Fall Cold Front/Cool & Damp WX

Have lived in Texas for nearly 4 decades, not sure if I've ever seen this many rainy days in central Texas. August was brutally hot with 23 days above 100 degrees, and only one rain event. September started off with a 100 degree day, then the rains came on Sept. 2nd. Over the next 48 days (Sept. 2nd...

Re: OCTOBER 2018 - Tracking The Tropics/Fall Cold Front

If Michael had been moving a few miles per hour slower in the 24hrs prior to landfall the wind field would have grown significantly, storm surge would have been higher and the extreme damage more widespread. Would be interesting to see modeling done for such a scenario.

Re: SEPTEMBER 2018 -Wet Week/Tracking INVEST 95L

Come Friday morning, we could have 5 named active systems in the Atlantic/GOM.

If that happens, I believe that's a first?
