1005mb is what they are calling it, but it looks like recon may have found lower (close to 1001mb iirc)

clouds have really hung around here in CLL and prevented much of any warming. forecast high was 39, but it's only 31 now

Re: February: Shallow Artcic Front/Wet & Wintry WX Threat

CLL reporting mixed, but I wonder if that is just ASOS being ASOS, as they are well above freezing, DP is blow freezing, so random sleet isn't impossible. Ground truth from Aggieland readers would be cool. I see no other reasonable reportings of freezing/frozen in the HGX CWA. The FWD CWA seems the...

Re: January: Arctic Front Thursday & Winter Storm Warning

I don't understand how I haven't seen any sleet yet. Areas to my south, north, west, and east have all been getting some. Even a few miles away from me has. When will I? urban heat island... /s In all seriousness, south and southeast C-Stat certainly has been an unlucky place to be so far. No frz s...

Re: January: Arctic Front Thursday & Winter Storm Warning

Judging my other posts and my backyard, the rain/sleet line in these parts right now is between the Texas A&M campus and south College Station. Still liquid here.

Looks like Herne is down to 30F though, so CLL should drop below the freezing mark soon and stay there.

Still plain old moderate rain here, but I am a couple miles southeast of the university.

well, CLL has now hit 101, 101, and 103 the past three days and they appear to be on track to challenge yesterday's high. disgusting; makes me glad i'm not there for it. that's really a tragedy regarding llano. a few of us are planning a hill country trip next month, and i'm going to guess that pede...

The VM is this is TS Alex again...and it aint wasting time.... and the pressure confirmed with the second pass is typically associated with a strong TS or weak hurr. obviously that's only a general case and windspeed depends on the gradient, not the absolute pressure, but it's certainly encouraging...

that main plume is weakening now. the best convection is clearly concentrated to the northeast with a few smaller towers springing up around the old "core's" fringes.

yeah. NHC track would imply a central Texas coast threat.... but it looks like they more or less took the middle road between the diverse model camps that take it anywhere from the northern Gulf to Mex. the cone of uncertainty should really be emphasized here.

Re: Weather Other Places

great idea here's an interesting NWS write-up on the historic tornado outbreak up here in MN last week (that I missed being down at A&M, thankfully): http://www.crh.noaa.gov/mpx/?n=10june17 three EF4s and a spattering of EF3s in the state is incredible. the radar loops at the bottom are cool too.
