Re: August 2021

Stratton is young with passion for weather at 100MPH. I get it and have been there myself in the GoPBi and early Storm2K days. Yes, there is nothing wrong with being excited about the weather You guys need to see his original posts, rather than his edits. He starts out wish casting, people call him...

Re: August 2021

Yep it is looking more like Long Island is going to take a direct landfall and the intensity may surprise a lot of folks. I agree. The easterly then SE winds are going to storm surge the Hamptons. Easterlies and ENE are headed to NY Harbor and Jersey. Besides the flooding likely to occur, that wind...

Re: August 2021

Look for a quiet period the next 10+ days or so as a big surge of African dust moves across the MDR into the Caribbean Sea. Typically SAL outbreaks end in mid August as we transition to the climatilogical peak of Hurricane season near mid September. I do see growing indications of a robust CCKW movi...

Re: August 2021

Good Evening All, I have been watching Fred, and of course Grace. I had heard a few mentions of Henri; but, really wasn't paying attention to a system so far removed from us. This afternoon it suddenly hit me: my Daughter is leaving for Boston, tomorrow afternoon. This is a working trip, with a cou...

Re: August 2021

Also hearing some meteorologists from KHOU saying Grace might be stronger than models are predicting and that this could lead to a track shift north , again I saw a Tweet from Tim Panderjis about this While a stronger storm could erode the ridge a little it wouldn't be enough for Grace to be a thre...

Today is our day to get Fred's remnants across the Smoky Mountains. It has been very wet the past week and our local forecast calls for 6 to 10 inches of heavy rainfall the next 24 hours DavidH. Thanks for asking! :P

Re: August 2021

Beaides taking a random guess, why is their another airplane on their way into Grace? They have already downgraded it to a depression, why are they flying into it(A3O2 mission) Reconnaissance for additional data and they're likely going to catch it while in Mona Passage. Every bit of additional dat...

Re: August 2021

Stalled frontal boundaries in early August suggests increasing rainfall and 'cooler' temperatures with increased cloud cover. It's a bit worrisome to see a persistent trough developing as peak Hurricane Season arrives.

Re: July 2021

Woke up at 5 AM and had to close my bedroom windows. It was a unusually chilly 56F here in the Smoky Mountains on July 21st! I don't miss running the A/C from early March to late November in SE Texas. Keep an eye on the Tropics as we turn the calendar to August. It's looking like an active peak Hurr...

Wow. 5th named Atlantic Basin storm, and a wet July in the Brazos Valley in addition. When unusual becomes the norm, indeed. 20/30 years ago the first four this year probably wouldn’t have been named. Bingo! Technology has definitely caused an increase in naming Storms that would have been missed i...
