Re: April 13-16, 2016 National Tropical Weather Conference
I will also be there representing STORM2K. Looking forward to a great time with a lot of great presentations. See you there, Brian, wxman57 and Steve. Steve and I have the same flight down so I'll be waiting too. See you there.

Re: HGX radar going "Dual Pol"
Dual pol takes out a lot of clutter and makes it much easier to determine what is being seen. It is both a hardware and software upgrade so I would expect to see some difference, though I don't know how much.

Re: August Weather Discussion
I am seeing some dead trees & shrubs here in Baytown. If you are just starting to see them you are lucky. A drive by Memorial Park off of I-610 will make you sick. Literally hundreds, if not thousands of dead trees are visible. I am losing shrubs as well as grass in my yard and I have been wate...

Re: Invest 97L: Central Atlantic
What makes this worrisome is the fact that the ridge is expected to retrograde West around that time or a little before. That would/should open up the GOM for business if it happens. Way too far out to be worried, but close enough that it has at least one of my eyes on it.

Re: 2011 ATL Hurricane Season: Watching The Cape Verde Waves
That looks like one of the strongest, if not the strongest TW I have ever seen come off of Africa. Definitely bears watching. Can we say hello Cape Verde season?

Re: EX TC Don- Inland near Baffin Bay "Don Is Dead"
Definitely the weirdest thing I have ever seen with a TC. As NHC said it happened without mountains interfering with the circulation. I would guess there was a sudden gulp of dry air along with the already dry environment of Texas that basically robbed Don of his moisture. Strange things happen when...

Re: GOM Homebrew end of next week?
Hmm, that is interesting. It will be interesting to see 1. if it happens, 2. what, if any influence might be imparted by the future Emily in whatever form she is, 3. if this develops into something is the ridge placed and strong enough to keep it coming West across the GOM to us? Without having look...

Re: March Weather Disccusion: High Pressure Ridge/Drought Co
Thanks for sending them our way Steve!! We need them!! Storms moving through right now in Spring Branch. Very little precip initially, but plenty of CG and winds gusting around 35 mph. Looked real nasty as the gust front came through, but no rotations noted that I could see. Rain is starting in earn...

Re: March Weather Disccusion: Rain Chances Ahead
I had a pleasant surprise this morning when I was awoken at 6am to the sound of thunder. It was off and on for about 30 minutes along with some fickers of lightning. I could use A LOT more of that!!!! This is just weird!! You(North of me) and a friend in Texas City(SE of me) report thunder and inte...

Re: Weather question need help
I don't know what you mean by broken. I am presuming that you know it isn't the batteries. I have found when I run into that problem(broken sensor)that once I find a replacement sensor it is usually more cost effective to buy a whole new unit. I have a unique situation now at my house. I have three ...

Re: February 5-11-11 Arctic Blast/Ice/Hard Freeze Warning
Models indicate no further cold fronts reaching southeast Texas for at least the next 10 days. 70s coming next week, possibly very close to 80 degrees here! I think I can easily handle that!! 22.1F this am at the house. I haven't kept real records, but if memory serves we have had more and colder f...

Re: February 5-11-11 Arctic Blast/Ice/Hard Freeze Warning
Anyone care to comment as to whether we would be talking about freezing rain, sleet, and/or snow if these incoming clouds produce any precip? IF they produce any precip, I would think all would be on the table. I have not looked at anything lately to tell me what the current temperature profile is ...
