Re: February 5-11-11 Winter Weather Advisories Issued

Here in NW Austin, TX DOT is closing 183 both directions (between McNeil and Toll 45) due to icing (Fox 7 just reported). There have been many accidents, but nothing compared to last week. I slipped twice on my way to work this morning. Thankfully the icing on the road isn't solid, so able to gain t...

Re: February Weather. Snow/Sleet/Ice/Winter Storm Warning

I can confirm the sleet and random snow flakes are coming down right now. Plenty of sleet on the street, too.

Re: February Weather. Severe Threat/Arctic Blast/Then Snow?

I can tell you it's 27-28 in Round Rock according to my truck on my way to work -- We had some small amounts of freezing rain apparently and the icicles never melted on my mirrors.

Weather in Austin Sept. 24th and 25th.

If I was looking at the long range GFS forecast, looks like maybe a cool front moving thorough Austin sometime between September 23rd and the 26th with some light showers? I know that models usually have a pretty poor track record that far out, so I'm holding out for a little more than a week before...

Re: 90L Gulf of Mexico

As I recall about Humberto, it was supposed to go into Galveston as a small tropical storm, but instead, turned to the ENE and wrecked Sabine Pass, Port Arthur, Bridge City and Orange. Lots of people in Beaumont didn't even know a almost Category 2 hurricane had blown through moth of south Jefferson...

I certainly hate to hear this about Dan. The meteorologist world has lost a good one. He will truly be missed around here. Thoughts and prayers to all of Dan's family and friends.

1st feeder bands moving through Round Rock and the I-35 corridor. Rain from Kennedy up to Waco. A little thunder, no wind, but a nice heavy tropical downpour. My grass is loving it! Not really 100% associated w/ Alex. There is a washed out front/weak boundary around the Austin area, giving enough l...

Then why are newspapers, books, even this forum typed/printed in mixed case? Because it's easier to read.............. I said " Reading the WEATHER ", lol. I also said " TO ME " :? At least on the internet it is. I didn't say reading newspapers, books, forums, etc. Maybe it's ju...

To me, for whatever reason, reading the weather in all uppercased is easier on the eyes than mixed case. Not too sure why.

Re: Wow! What a transition this is temperaturewise.

I was in Wichita Falls this weekend, and all I can say is.. BRRRRRR... Got woke up by the sleet banging against the window at about 3AM, woke up to sleet all over, then it turned into a moderate-heavy snow event all day long. Winds were howing about 30mph with temps around 30F. I have seen snow 4 ti...

Re: Spring Foward=Move clocks ahead one hour

I would take Daylight Savings Time over Standard Time ANYDAY! I absolutely HATE how early it gets dark in the winter! 6:30PM would be better than getting dark at 5:30PM in December! Blahh on standard time!!
