Re: February Weather. Snow/Sleet/Ice/Winter Storm Warning
I'm looking at the 0z CMC, and it doesn't have the heaviest precip arriving until later on this afternoon I don't understand what you're talking about, wxman... Also, dewpoints are much higher than the GFS suggests right now. Upper teens instead of lower teens. Again, suggesting to me that the GFS d...

Re: February Weather. Snow/Sleet/Ice/Winter Storm Warning
Initial observations of current conditions along the coast would indicate that the Canadian was wrong with it's moisture projection and start time and the low position offshore. Euro was too early bringing in the precip. Dew points are quite low and offshore winds would suggest the low would form f...

Re: February Weather. Arctic Blast/Snow/Ice/Winter Storm Wa
Sorry stepped away. It does look like a possible wintry event again. It only goes out (text output) to 7 days but Next Thu has us at freezing with .37in of moisture. The 0c line is off the coast at 144, so again that cold air is in place just before the low moves across. This could be something els...

Re: February Weather. Arctic Blast/Snow/Ice/Winter Storm Wa
At this time of the night on December 4th, 2009 (our last snow event), we were sitting at 45 degrees with a dewpoint of 32. Compare that to right now where IAH is sitting at 31 with a dewpoint of 16 The temperature on that day was 40 degrees at noon just before the snow began. The temperature actual...

Re: February Weather. Arctic Blast/Snow/Ice/Winter Storm Wa
I also noticed that the temp has rose 1 degree at KHOU from 33 to 34 and my personal thermometer at home has been holding steady at 32.5. What's up with that? I thought we should be slowly falling. It's cloudy Thanks to the faster insertion of clouds across the area than previously expected, temper...

Re: February Weather. Arctic Blast/Snow/Ice/Winter Storm Wa
If the precip doesn't start until late evening, the temperatures would probably rise to 35 or 36, despite full cloud cover, thanks to insolation, but once the precip is to begin temperatures will fall rapidly into the upper 20s....

Re: February Weather. Arctic Blast/Snow/Ice/Winter Storm Wa
Here's one for some of the more knowledgeable members: Since precip is trending to start during the 'warmest' part of the day tomorrow, would there be an issue regarding p-type? It might very well reach 35 tomorrow, would this hamper accumulations if the event onsets early? Does the event wrap up m...

Not sure if it will start that early as I think the atmosphere will need some time to moisten, but that is interestingAndrew wrote: Ok well Euro shows about .31in so far (a tad less than 12z) but it starts it at 12 tomm or 6am tomm with .07in! If it is right tomm could be a mess.
