Re: May: Storms Possible Sunday-Friday. Cooler Next Weekend?
Havent been on here in a while! I sorta need around half an inch of rain to cancel an event I will otherwise miss this weekend. I knew where to go to get the right answer. Ill be back on here for hurricane season for sure. Anyway, looking at the GFS, I might just get my wish for a nice shower before...

Re: April Discussions: Rain/Storm Chance Early Next Week?
Pretty windy out there tonight... should pick up tomorrow too
Last real shot of cool air this season, maybe the last time we dip below 45.
And we might even hit 90 in a week or so.. ITS ENDING, Nooooo.
Anyway, this board is DEAD until hurricane season.

Re: Tornado Sirens for The City of Houston
Would be much easier if cities would just create a "emergency notification system" and alert citizens via text message or other means. I mean come on, 80% of people would get the warning within 5 minutes of an emergency the way we depend on cell phones these days. I'm sure some other citie...

Re: February Ends Warm and Dry
After a very cold start, February will end close to normal temperature-wise, but well below normal precipitation-wise with only 0.69" recorded at IAH. That 83 degrees sure felt nice yesterday. Got in a 40 mile fast-pace mountain bike ride. Even got a bit of sunburn on my shoulders. Rode with a...

Re: Welcome Back Weather Forum Community
That Facebook link Mrs.Frosty posted is just a actual profile, that would not be the route to go. What we need to make is a "group" that we can "join". A "page" that you can "like" wouldnt be as good as a group either. LOL, tried to make it simple.

Re: Welcome Back Weather Forum Community
I was pretty worried, didn't know if the forum had got the cut or not. Pfew.. In future down-times, perhaps Srain/mod can log onto the old "z.forum" and post a status on what has happened to the new forum. I see the old forum is still there, so maybe we can use it as a back up? One other ...

Re: February 5th-28th - Big Warm-up for S. Plains Feb 12-20
Though I'd take 100 degrees over the 30s any day, I think IAH may see another light freeze or two before the end of March. There are some indications of some cold air coming down at the end of February. Could see low-mid 30s here by March 1st. I am a rider too. I mountain bike down here at Jack Bro...

Re: February 5th-28th - Big Warm-up for S. Plains Feb 12-20
Well, about time to throw in the flag.. Winter is over. Hopefully one last late season cold front before the 80s and  90s  return We'll probably have another 7-10 cold fronts before the 80s/90s are here to stay in late April or early May. Hopefully that many. With La Nina I'm kinda worr...

Re: February 5-11-11 Arctic Blast/Ice/Hard Freeze Warning
From what it appears, all of this energy is in the upper levels and nothing is coming down. Radar says nothing down south as well.
Nothing but cold temps tonight guys.

Nothing but a few small blips (probably virga) in south texas.
The IR looks like some activity, but upper level.
What map are you looking at?
Im not seeing anything to get hopes up.

Re: February 5-11-11 Winter Weather Advisories Issued
All that can be done with this is to watch how the cold air filers in and how long after precip. If college station is already icing over, ill bet some parts of houston will be slick this afternoon. This could get very dangerous very fast. It would almost be fitting for one event to bust and have ev...

Re: February 5-28, 2011 Discussion: Another Arctic Blast ?
Weren't the models pretty warm a couple days before the onset of last week's event, making everyone's forecast vacillate between rain, sleet and snow? Then we got freezing rain hours after the time the models predicted it would begin? Hey wxman666, did you end up seeing snow during last weeks...

Re: February 6-28, 2011 Discussion: Another Artic Blast ?
...how long was the Ike thread? Nearly 500 pages. That was countless days and nights of posting model runs, wobbles and storm reports. It was bad. I remember seeing like 10-20 pages an hour or so right up to the event. This place was a mad house. I bet if Febuary has something exciting left, we can...

Re: February 1-5, 2011 Arctic Blast/Winter Storm Discussion
Should see all the winter-fun melt over the next few hours. Im hoping my ice covered swing set makes it another night. Holding up nicely now.
Next weeks front should lower temps well back into the 20s, but all precip looks to be associated with FROPA and none after.

Re: February 1-5, 2011 Arctic Blast/Winter Storm Discussion
This turned out to be a historic event after all. More problematic then fun, but gliding on my back deck was enough to satisfy me. Anyone not watching the local news should turn it on. Every shot is wrecked cars, then they pan around and there are wrecks in the background. Looks like pure chaos in s...
