Re: August 2017: Harvey/Catastrophic Flood/Recovery

55" here in Dickinson for the event. I live off Deats road and it was absolutely horrible. The road had 6 feet of water in spots. Unfortunately 8" of water made it into my house, however houses just two streets over on lower elevations had over 5 feet! The sight and sound of bay boats, jet...

Re: November 2015: Progressive/Changeable WX Pattern

Very thin but organized squall line headed towards metro in the next hour or two.
Surprising how well its held together for it being so thin. 10 degree drop with fropa.

Re: October 2015 - Heavy Rainfall/Coastal Low/Flash Flood Li

To the untrained eye, it does look like this moved quicker than expected and we might have dodged the 10"+ totals. What is interesting is what Andrew mentioned a page or two back about the multiple lows on the radar. The one between Corpus/Matagorda looks like it is deepening... Beginning of a ...

Even though it's probably the last model run before we enter nowcast mode, that's impressive.
Looking forward to following the board for another event, good to see this place active after all the years.

Re: JUNE 2015 -Tracking Tropical Depression Bill

Radar returns are dying by the hour, looks like we are done with the effects of Bill.
GFS shows a shower or two over the next few days then normal high and dry pattern resumes.
Should finally go back to regularly scheduled programming, but glad to see this board lively during an event like Bill.

Re: JUNE 2015 -Tracking Tropical Depression Bill

Are you guys seeing how the storms over Corpus are cutting off our moisture feed? Quite interesting because they "pick up" again just after Houston... will be interesting to see if Bill's northeastward progression will move the "forcing" over Houston this evening, flooding out t...

They must think all the bands over Corpus will hold together and pull through here overnight.
That's going to be a mess if it does, slow moving and lots of life left. Bill isn't leaving us quietly.

Re: JUNE 2015 -Tracking Tropical Storm Bill

This is FAR from over.

Serious feeder bands offshore and wherever one sets up (and stalls) could receive upwards of 10" of rain over several hours.
Hopefully the tail end falls apart, but these systems are known to drop a surprise or two on their way out.

Re: JUNE 2015 -Tracking Tropical Storm Bill

Latest Corpus Christi and Houston/Galveston radar composite loops suggests TS Bill very slowly moving N over Matagorda Bay. Could it be that Bill is moving north over San Antonio Bay, just west of Matagorda Bay, by the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge? Just asking. Yep, looks like an NNE wobble for...

Re: JUNE 2015 -Tracking Tropical Storm Bill

The blob in the SW Gulf is more impressive than Bill! It's lighting up the water vapor loop too. Have to see if the convection continues to build on the south side of Bill. That would not be good as all that convection will wrap up on "the dirty side" (us) as it moves inland. http://www.s...

Re: JUNE 2015 -Tracking Tropical Storm Bill

I've been stuck at the airport in Chicago for 12 hours now. Trying to fly back to Houston tonight. Hope I can beat Bill to Texas. I'm thinking landfall a little east of Matagorda Bay as a 50-60kt TS . Could be a little less intense. That may mean possible 35-45 mph winds for south Houston with high...

So check this out while we await Recon flight data.. Ironic similarities between this system and Tropical Storm Erin in 2007 which landed near Port Aransas. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tropical_Storm_Erin_%282007%29 "a Hurricane Hunters flight into the system reported a small circulation cent...

Re: JUNE 2015 -Heavy Rainfall/INVEST 91L & Watching The Gulf

Are they going to issue Tropical Storm watches/warnings? Easy, grasshopper. Treat this as a rain event, with some wind, and hopefully doesn't stick around very long. They'll need to issue one for a small area of coastline that will experience those conditions if the storm continues to progress as i...
