Seeing high CAPE over Southeast Texas is unusual. If there was no capping, we could see severe thunderstorms. The forecast models for Wednesday looks like a night time event

Re: May 2024
I really dont see any sort of big heat ridge setup in the guidance anytime soon or even perhaps for the next few weeks, GFS continues to see a couple of cold fronts sliding through over the next few weeks! We shall see I'll believe it when I see it. I feel like we are charging forward to another sc...

Re: May 2024
CMC and GFS keep the ridge to our south through the first week in June. AI-Euro jailbreaks the ridge after June 4th to the upper plains. Either way, be means a more active weather patter for us next week and into early June. AI Euro is generous with the rain. I'm sensing a tropical showers pattern ...

Re: Tropical Storm Claudette 1979 Coverage
I was 10 years old living in E Pearland. Received 22” of rain in 24 hours. We got a break in the afternoon and remember the dark skies off to the S toward Alvin. Right about dark there was a wave of low clouds that looked like smoke. A minute later the deluge returned and continued until 2AM. The h...

Re: May 2024
From Matt Lanza The same Matt Lanza who said the models whiffed on the storms the other day about 3 hours too early. Let me say this. First, I am not a meteorologist, but it is not an exact science. Even in this say of advanced computing, mistakes can still be made. He has a BS in Meteorology from ...

Re: 2024 Hurricane Season Discussion
I'm starting to buy in more with the various forecast showing Texas being one of the hotspots this year. I am very concern with the persistent weakness that has been over the state the last month or so. The continuation of this pattern through May could cause a feedback loop, with saturated soils o...

Re: May 2024
The Euro has been far more accurate of the models and HRRR hasn't been bad on the mesos. The transition from La Niña to El Niño sees to be allowing more energy further south than the last 10 years (on average). The weather has been more like the 90s. A bit wetter for us. There have been a lot of cl...
