Re: September 2023
I have seen many regulars come and go on this forum since the late Dan Meador and KHOU ran it and behaviors have changed too. Good times back then for sure! It is to be expected and hopefully what pros we have such as you don't go anywhere! I wish it was worth it. But, this is more of a place of cr...

Re: September 2023
It seems the grumpiness stems from some of the same areas seeing rain multiple times and others not seeing anything. It has rained 3 times this week about 5 or 10 minutes to my east, but no drops at all at my place. It is frustrating! Totally understand the frustration, but doesn’t warrant distrust...

Re: September 2023
My critique was more of some of the other comments on this board. It’s not the same place it used to be, I guess. It's pretty obvious why: Look back at the old-times when this board was founded (sometime in the 2000s decade): the climate patterns in SE TX were much milder/more agreeable in that per...

Re: September 2023
Our history in southeast Texas is full of extremes - well before our time. Meaningless tripe because even factoring in all those extremes, Houston just recorded its confirmed hottest summer on record (as per Matt Lanza on Space City Weather). That's on top of record highs obliterated along the Gulf...

Re: September 2023
Granted I don't live in the area any more, but I'm curious why some seem to have been under the impression they were guaranteed rain today? This seemed like a classic low quantity, higher intensity day? It also seemed to be messaged that way? My answer to this is: Yes, you’re absolutely right in sa...

Re: September 2023
To be honest, the graphic still does not show rain everywhere… in fact it implies isolated coverage. There was a legitimate risk of severe weather - just on an isolated basis. Damage was reported with today’s storms. There could have, maybe, been more emphasis on the expected isolated nature. Then ...

Re: September 2023
So much for that non-event. If all the forecasts are going to be this wrong, maybe people should start predicting that there is no chance in hell of any rain. Granted I don't live in the area any more, but I'm curious why some seem to have been under the impression they were guaranteed rain today? ...

Re: 2023 Hurricane Season Discussion
Lol 18z GFS, up to more of its shenanigans as usual I'll say it again... pattern says watch the BOC and southern Gulf through the first week of September. Individual runs may be bogus, but pattern favors persistent storminess over a very warm body of water. Y'all need to keep a casual eye on it.

Re: August 2023
Some of the most widespread and heavy rain in months is falling where active fires are burning. Beggars can't be choosers. Be grateful that the pattern is slowly changing. Haha. Front + elevated PWATS remain in the air tonight, tomorrow. Y'all also need to continue to keep an eye on the southern Gul...

Re: August 2023
Hallelujah!IMG_0410.jpeg YAY! I knew the rain dancing would pay off some time. What a great (END TO THE) day! Not only did we manage to avoid breaking records in Houston, but we also crashed the day with a slew of awesome cells through downtown. Houston tied its ALL TIME record high today and broke...

Re: 2023 Hurricane Season Discussion
Like others have said, a system *could develop almost anywhere within the larger monsoonal trough and plume of moisture. At the moment, most data favors the northern Yucatan coast or Gulf of Honduras. But, it remains to be seen. It is also possible that if the trough remains further north, if could ...

Re: 2023 Hurricane Season Discussion
Models will continue to struggle with…
Depth of trough
Where energy consolidated, if anywhere at all
Same thoughts as yesterday - casual eye on the Gulf over the next 7-12 days.
