Re: October 2015 - Heavy Rainfall/Coastal Low/Flash Flood Li

Is the kink in the squall line on the Brownsville radar (http://radar.weather.gov/radar.php?rid= ... 1&loop=yes) a good indication for the location of the low? It does seem to be moving more east than north.

Re: October 2015 - Pattern Change/Heavy Rainfall Possible

With the Formula 1 race taking place this weekend at Austin's Circuit of the Americas, there will be tens of thousands of folks coming from all over the world for a three day, outdoor event in an area with low water crossings that's prone to flash flooding. This could be a real mess.

Now that a TD has formed in the Gulf of Tuhanapec, will it cause the system in the Gulf of Honduras to lose strength?

Re: September 2015: Slight Rain Chances & Warmer

We just had a very small shower at my house out here in the Energy Corridor. It was so small that it showed up as a single faint green pixel on the HGX radar. My neighbors should thank me for it as I just washed and waxed my car.

Re: August 2015 Weather - Pattern Change Next Weekend

It's going to be interesting for ERCOT this afternoon. The load is running about 500MW above yesterday and the wind is about 500MW below schedule. Looking for a peak of almost 71,000MW when the record was about 68,300MW (from 8/3/2011) up until last week.

Re: August 2015 Weather - It Gets HOT Next Week!

06Z GFS is now in. Here's a new meteogram. Highs up to 113 Mon/Tue. Big cold front arrives Tuesday evening, knocking our high down to 104 for Wednesday. Keep in mind this is raw data, I'm not forecasting 113 in Houston. What is the difference between this GFS temp forecast and the "actual"...

Re: December 2014: New Year's Eve Wintry Mix Possible

What I find unusual about this cold snap is that the really cold air seems to be uncharacteristically bottled up to the west. Is this the result of the particular phases that the Arctic and North Atlantic Oscillations are in?

What happened to that mid-next-week front? The discos have dropped mention of it.

EDIT: I see it's back this morning though the sweaters won't be needed.

Re: August 2014 - Dog Days Of Summer/Seabreeze Showers

Wise thoughts from NOAA: Now that we have entered the heart of the hurricane season, there is an increase in the Internet hype around disturbances that NHC is monitoring. Given the long lead times involved, the wide range of possible outcomes, and the historically poor and erratic performance of gui...

Almost an inch and a half in about 30 minutes here in the Energy Corridor (Memorial and Eldridge).
