Re: June 2024

What 2nd system? The one east of Florida? One that's not in the BOC/SW Gulf yet. Would be something if this next one ends up impacting us more than the current one given the model runs. Flip flop in reality lol There has been some talk about the ridge backing off and allowing this one to move more ...

South of I10 just as originally suggested. North of there has been less than exciting.

Re: June 2024

Well, points south of houston got pretty wet last night. North of houston, if you sneezed you missed it.

This system is a named dud, truth be known. However look down in the BOC today.

Re: June 2024 (Flood Watch in effect at 7pm)

Just when it looked hopeless, we are seeing some regeneration in the strength and coverage. It is knocking on our front door, and this time I see no dying off.

This is the most promising for our area so far. Houston, south, lookout We will see about points north after midnight tonight.

Yes, it's a sad thing to watch if you like rough weather, especially considering the expectations. I'd love to say I'm shocked, but we forum veterans have seen this happen a gazillion times.

Re: 2024 Hurricane Season Discussion

Despite globals taking the 2nd system into mexico, im not convinced of that just yet, models also show a weakness in the ridge with some sort of weak backdoor front/ shortwave trough working its way down into the eastern us, helps to erode the ridge a bit, this could go straight into mexico, but i ...

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy with no rain today. You never know here, so grab a cold beer. Then sneeze and call it a day.

Re: June 2024 (PTC 1 Advisories issued)

Looks like Louisiana again were the winners of rain overnight from this system #1. Seems to be a wall from Lake Charles south/westward that any rain just puts on the breaks. Wouldn’t that be something after all this, Southeast Texas gets nothing and Louisiana gets more than Houston. For now, some m...

If you want heavy rain that looks just about right. That is not to say points north get nothing.

Re: June 2024 (PTC 1 Advisories issued)

Weather burgers can go from nothing to double meat around here. The best any of us can do is watch the trends. When it come to spring storms, summer hurricanes, and winter storms, we should all be prepared. Many folks don't understand that when a nothing burger pops up. We will see tomorrow, but don...

Re: June 2024 (PTC 1 Advisories issued)

I mentioned yesterday there seemed to be a little rotation in the area the NWS is plotting today. Mexico was never really out of the question even though some of the models teased otherwise. If we get a TS out of this and it tightens up we can shift the heavy rain further south with it. In the meant...

Re: January 2024

Well we are inching towards the weekend where confidence gets a bit stronger. Based on today, I'm afraid folks have been setting themselves up for yet another disappointment. At this juncture, getting on the same page between Mets is unobtainable. The 0% vs. 60% is a bit concerning, I'll admit. I ur...

Re: January 2024

Even the mention of ice should get folks revved up now for the possibility. Even a thin layer, maybe especially a thin layer can prove to be deadly. If it doesn't happen, oh well. As stated by many, and many times, our forecast will evolve. We literally could be 24 to 48 hours out to get any kind of...

Re: January 2024

Any and all Mets can get it wrong sometimes. The late and great Harold Taft once said that snow was not coming to DFW, but rather stay north of the area. I lived in Dallas for ten years and never saw him miss it. We woke up the next morning to a winter wonderland. Things can change on a dime. I've a...

Re: January 2024

Yes, but remember no one was saying anything about it. Even the NWS waited a few days. Weather is forever evolving, and we've seen forecasts bust even in as little as 24 hours. We are not there yet. I've seen a lot in my tenor with weather forums and long range forecasts. I don't trust any of it. Tw...
