Re: thoughts on current pattern

I agree that people shouldn't live or die by the models, but NO amount of positive thinking can get blood out of a turnip.
Cool user name........although it's very far from the truth and no amount of positive thinking can change that.

Re: Cold weather on the way next week maybe wintry precip too!?

Looks to be a north Texas/northeast Texas event.
Maybe hope will alter reality........no probably not. ;)

Re: Cold weather on the way this week maybe wintry precip too!?

And it appears some home-grown are firing up ahead of the main line.
At least we'll get some thunderstorm excitement with this (Winter Event). :)

Re: Cold weather on the way next week maybe wintry precip too!?

I was born in New Orleans and have suffered through many miserable seasons. This win is SO sweet, you folks just don't know!!! Happy for you folks and believe me WE do know. Can you recall the last time a Houston NFL team played in the Super Bowl, me neither? Glad to see you and I are on the same p...

Re: Cold weather on the way next week maybe wintry precip too!?

I took this from the 72 range to the 102 hr range. It appears the Houston areas best chances come at the onset of the moisture shield moving in, Appears the big D could get some measurable snowfall. Us down here, maybe a flake or two mixed in with a sleet pellet now and then. Of course this is subje...

Re: Cold weather on the way next week maybe wintry precip too!?

Hmm! I would view the NWS in much the same way you view long range model forecasting... Theses folks are NOT the place to hang your hat on and call it a day. Let's see what they say come Tuesday/Wednesday. Fair enough, but you'd think they'd be somewhat in the general area. Who knows........guess w...

Re: Cold weather on the way next week maybe wintry precip too!?

Sorry, NWS Houston/Galveston isn't seeing any potential for frozen precip around here. High temperatures for much of the middle of the week will only be in the 40s with cold advection lasting through Tuesday night. Cloud cover will be tricky as suspect there will be some lingering clouds due to trap...

Re: Cold weather on the way next week maybe wintry precip too!?

Cold, cloudy, dreary weather. Please bring on spring already. Other than the snow miracle on Dec.4th........this has been a depressing winter.

Re: Cold weather on the way next week maybe wintry precip too!?

Guys, what chance of Henderson, Tyler, Longview seeing any snow next week? I live in Price, Texas which is just West of Henderson. I'd say a good chance of snow in the Arklatex region.......if you want to believe the GFS precipitation forecast. http://i900.photobucket.com/albums/ac203/639_photos/mo...

Re: Cold weather on the way next week maybe wintry precip too!?

Not looking good for southeast Texas next week, as far as frozen precip goes, according to my trusty GFS forecast precipitation.
Looks good for Dallas and maybe points 80 to a 100 miles north of us.
Sorry Charley.

Re: Cold weather on the way next week maybe wintry precip too!?

Temperatures in the mid-thirties could indeed support sleet, but it won't stick.
It would be exciting nonetheless.

Re: Cold weather on the way next week maybe wintry precip too!?

Well, at least David Paul keeps a chance for some frozen precip next week.
But until wxman57 jumps on board it's just hog wash.
You look pretty snazzy in that bike pic wxman, BTW.

So now the EVENT appears to be more of a central, north Texas and possibly southern plains event?

Re: Cold weather on the way next week maybe wintry precip too!?

One last old man winter event.........then let spring start in earnest.
While this winter hasn't been earth shattering, unless, of course, you keep tabs on deviations from norms plus or minus a few degrees, it's been absolutely miserably cold.
I miss the fun in the sun.

Re: So...anyone else made it yet??

I'm here to cast my unique pessimistic view upon any forecast that mentions wintry weather for southeast Texas.
No need to thank me.
