I'm in New Orleans, so I'm looking at it from a different perspective. ;)

If only that disturbance could squeeze out some moisture with that cold air in place......

Re: December 2014: New Year's Eve Wintry Mix Possible

I believe it is due to the strong southern ridge that may be keeping it from advancing much to the east. Thoughts anyone?

Re: December 2014: New Year's Eve Wintry Mix Possible

From what I read, as long as that southern ridge stays in place it will be hard for the arctic air to reach the gulf coast. Am I off base here?

Re: December 2014: New Year's Eve Wintry Mix Possible

Interesting to see the storm system we mentioned what seems like days ago developing NE of Hawaii rounding the base of the West Coast Ridge now near Baja and Southern California inter acting with the cold upper trough. Could be a weather headliner for areas that typically do not see Winter Weather ...

Re: December 2014: New Year's Eve Wintry Mix Possible

That's what gave us the snow event here in the New Orleans area in 2008. We had a cold core ULL pass over the southern part of the state. Some areas received up to 8".

Re: December 2014: Stormy Saturday Turning Colder Next Week

Ok, thanks. I guess time will tell.

Re: December 2014: Stormy Saturday Turning Colder Next Week

What are the chances of that arctic air bleeding east into Louisiana? Any thoughts? Highly unlikely. I've seen this pattern many times in my 35 years working as a meteorologist here in Houston. The models had the right idea last week (sub-freezing with precip) and now they've lost the event. The Eu...

Re: December 2014:Christmas WX/Cold & Messy New Years Eve?

Hey folks, I know this is a Texas forum, so I beg your indulgence with a question concerning SE Louisiana. Srain, or someone, could you please extend your projections a little further to your neighbors to the east with this upcoming pattern change? I thank you in advance. :)

Gentleman, I know you have followers all across the Gulf Coast, and I am one of them. I rarely post and mostly read. But I must ask if the current indications point to any indication of SE La. receiving any frozen precip. I thank you in advance for any response.

Re: January: Arctic Airmass 1/5-7/2014. Hard Freeze Warning!

Is it my imagination, or is there a spin on the southern edge of the baja that looks to be drifting east?
