Re: January 2024

we arent getting a glancing blow, its coming straight down into the plains and into texas, Cosgrove has mentioned that the ICON and CMC have the best handle on how this is likely going to play out , ABC13 has highs in the upper 40’s which is far too conservative , the blocking pattern is pretty muc...

Re: January 2024

To be fair to Travis and ABC13, this isn't the "Polar Vortex" and that's what he was mostly responding to last week. As far as glancing blow, we are still a week out and if i had to wager money... We live in Houston and its always a safer bet on it being warmer than models show a week out...

Re: January 2024

Quite the opposite lol, with arctic airmasses, the models are almost always too warm, globals were 5-10 degrees too warm with the February 2021 outbreak, id bank on a couple days below freezing in in se texas This far out, we don't know the true depth of the snowpack to the north prior to the front...

Re: January 2024

Only had .50” here. Once again, underperforming and less rain than expected, at least here. I know some places got decent rains but that dry slot killed it for a lot of us. Back to work today, so I’m officially done with cold weather for the season. Bring on spring. You need to have cold air build ...

Re: December 2023

So much for all that "coldest winter ever" nonsense that everyone was talking about late summer and fall. More like warmest, most boring winter ever. Beautiful fall weather all week and then a rainy, sloppy mess all holiday weekend naturally. Was that ever predicted? I only ever saw wette...

Re: December 2023

What happened to the crazy winds? They were a little brisk earlier at 5-10 but I thought there were going to be 30-50 mph winds after the front blew through?

sambucol wrote: Tue Dec 05, 2023 9:06 pm Thank you. Any idea if it moves in really late in the day on Saturday? Maybe evening?
Dialing in front timing this far out is gonna be pretty tough but most models seem to have it late evening almost into Sunday after midnight before its off the coast.

Re: November 2023

Not surprisingly after all the models were showing north of I10 the majority of heavy rain is south of I10. So far i think we've picked up around .20" in Fairfield/Cypress. I was hoping for a solid inch or so today.

Re: July 2023

Fairfield portion of Cypress got walloped pretty good yesterday. I recorded 1.2" of rain that started about 5:50 and ended about 6:40. The power went out, lots of wind and lightning. Thats twice now since Saturday night that we've been extremely lucky and gotten a small but strong storm pop up ...

Re: March 2023

My question is- how are our water levels in the reservoirs and rivers that satisfy Houston's water needs for the summer.? Are they doing ok? Or do we need a tropical storm- not a hurricane- to fill them up? How is drought monitoring in our area doing? Lakes and reservoirs are all full in and around...

Re: March 2023

Got about a tenth to maybe just under 2 tenths here in Fairfield, not much but enough to leave the cars really dirty with the west Texas dirt mixed in with the rain and pollen. It looked better on radar but i didn't even hear a weak rumble of thunder.

Re: February 2023

Randomly pouring in northwest Cypress right now. I hadn’t been able to pay much attention to weather other than knowing it was going to be warm and muggy with almost no rain….

Re: January 2023

Here’s something strange I have noticed the last several days. When I open the Weather App on my phone, it’s been showing a very large blob of unhealthy/hazardous air quality over the Houston area. But when you Google “Houston Air Quality” the map shows most stations are green/good with a couple in...

Man I was hoping for a bit more organized line but it was a broken line that skipped most of western Harris county. At least the temps are dropping though!

Re: October 2022

Its not over yet but it seems like every "major" rain event predicted (which with the lack of rain even 1-2" is major) over the past few years is usually a bust in timing, rainfall amount/coverage, intensity or all three. Even when its a high confidence forecast it usually doesn't pan...

Got right at 0.30 here in Fairfield. The wind was pretty wild for a few minutes before the rain came through. Only a few smaller rumblings of thunder.

Re: October 2022

TWC app goes from a 96° high tomorrow to 69°F high next Wednesday ...I'll believe that... I feel like you can usually add 3-5* to the early fall fronts 5-7 day projected temps but man I'm gonna be ready after multiple hot humid mid October days. This mornings humidity hit me like a ton of bri...

Re: October 2022

JDsGN a pattern change is coming regardless, high latitude blocking sets up near alaska allowing cooler air to spill south, trough sets up over the eastern 2/3rd of the US and we will get in on some of that cooler air, it is coming, just have to wait just a but more longer, the front this week was ...
