Re: September 2020: Tracking TS Beta

I also have to agree that giving the public the heads up on the potential for flooding if this system is progged to hang around. Being wrong is safer than being uninformed.

Re: September 2020: Tracking TS Beta

I was going to say the same thing. Catagory of a tropical system does not have to suggest anything other than wind speed. Rainfall from even just low pressure or a depression can be tremendous if it sits and does not move out. Dry air surrounding these systems effects rainfall more than anything.

Re: August 2020: Tracking Laura

Businesses closed early today. Doctors left at noon to prepare for the mess that is coming. I lost my very important doctors appointment. People evacuated. Those in Louisiana thought Texas was ground zero. We are down to 24 hours and basically moment casting. I've said it for years now that model ca...

Re: August 2020: Tracking Laura

Well I am both relieved, yet shocked at the forecast here in Montgomery County. The tropical storm warning is gone with a 30% chance for rain on Thursday. LOL

Re: August 2020: Tracking Laura

According to radar returns Laura is still very much wobbling. She will travel wnw for a bit, and then nw. At the moment I'm seeing another wnw movement. If this storm does not make that turn soon to remove most of any westerly component areas between Galveston and the border need to pay close attent...

Re: August 2020: Tracking The Busy Tropics

57 will only give you a model driven forecast. Old fashioned forecasting is still out there scattered about. Neil Frank and Harold Taft were/are some greats.

Re: August 2020: Tracking The Busy Tropics

Unless Laura is forecasted to come in wearing a mask I hope we can stay on topic. Could be a serious situation for someone in the gulf. Can't be mucking up the conversation. Know what I mean? LOL

Re: July 2020

I'm not sure how to fairly define a wish caster, or folks that miss out on rough weather. There are some folks who live for this stuff. We have tornado chasers, and even Hurricane chasers that put themselves in harms way for the thrill of it all and we don't look down upon them. I personally like a ...

Re: January: Severe Storms Tuesday/Cooler To End The Month

Though we did not go Severe across most of S.E. Texas, there was a very healthy line of storms, and moderate to heavy rain for some. Porter, Montgomery County, got a very nice period of heavy rainfall last night.

Re: January: Tracking The Jan 7th-11th Storm System

Agreeing with Jeff.. If we get said warm front north of the area, then we will increase the storm threat as thing destabilize a bit more. Any severe storm threat would be on Wednesday, per current forecast.

Stay tuned..

Re: January: Tracking The Jan 7th-11th Storm System

2 to 7 inches of rain is pretty serious. Unfortunately, this event is still unfolding, even at this hour. If your area is under the flash flood watch, I urge everyone to pay attention to the forecast for your particular county from Tuesday noon through Wednesday night. Instability will be limited, s...

Re: December-Tracking The Christmas Winter Storm

Well, I got .10". That's a tenth of a inch. Not quite the 2.8" I was bulls-eyed for from the HPC back on page 40. You are not alone, Jasons. If you live south of 105, many of us only got that brief shower activity as the warm front moved back north. Most of the severe weather, big rain to...
