Re: SEPTEMBER 2018 -Wet Week/Tracking INVEST 95L
College Station received a nice downpour yesterday and I believe the day before. Our county road in Grimes is a muddy mess and pastures are green. We're not dry....at the moment!

Re: SEPTEMBER 2018 -Wet Week/Tracking The Tropics
It's going to be an interesting early Saturday morning trying to fly out of Texas and a connecting flight scheduled in Charlotte with Florence lurking. Then onto the Caribbean with Isaac a potential threat. Playing pinball with tropical systems. What a way to start a vacay!

Re: AUGUST 2018 - Rain Returning Sunday & Beyond?
It will be 6 years in September that we've been in Grimes County. This is the first year that we have actually seen cicadas. We've never seen walking sticks but this year they are everywhere. The wildflowers in our pasture this year have been different than any of the other years. I have no clue if ...

Re: July 2018: Weekend/Early Next Week Rain Chances
I can't stand these Texas summers and droughts any more. I'm done. Throwing in the towel. I'm moving to the Great State of Florida as soon as possible....which in reality will be about 3 years from now. But I have a plan and a goal :-) As Texas summers and droughts go, this summer has not been too ...

Re: JUNE 2018 will the rains come?
Heard the wind chimes clanging and went outside to gather up all the pool floaties and chairs before they blew off to Navasota. The wind was fierce. Could not move headed NE to barn for about 30-45 seconds. One of the floaties is GONE. Then had an alarm notification for a roof hatch at our buildings...

Looking to the west and southwest...wondering if the storms/rain will hold together and push into the Brazos Valley and Houston area. Central Texas into Waco has some action today and this evening. Spring is here.

Re: JANUARY 2018 - Winter Storm/Hard Freeze Warnings
Looking ahead we should warm up the next week or so, but not to be the bearer of bad news...or goods news depending on your perspective the models are indicating some very cold air currently over Siberia were the actual temperatures are in the -70 to almost -90F looks to build across Canada and I s...

Srain I'm ready to start looking at the next actic intrusion you alluded to early for the mid Jan time frame. I had noticed there could could wet pattern around that time also. It's a lock, then. ;) DoctorMu, I don't think you ever sleep. You're as liable to post at 1AM as 1PM. Always do enjoy your...

Keep projecting the cold. We'll catch up to that hour 240 mark at some point this winter.

Re: December 2017: Christmas Cold / Ice Across Texas?
Personally, the model run hugging doesn't bother me in the least. None of the persons on this forum that moderate and post and have earned their credibility within this forum, and outside the forum, have stated that the return of 83/89 WILL HAPPEN. If none of us wanted to obtain information of what ...

Re: November 2017 Weather - will it be cold?
May be too late in the Pacific season but still have fingers crossed for a non-land threatening, jet stream buckling typhoon. We're still nowhere close to winter but all the long range forecasts and the CPC are painting a picture of warm and dry. That is a great forecast for continued Harvey recover...

Re: ENSO Updates
Tried doing some research on whether La Nina is a cooler or warmer winter for us. Based on previous post who I know loves cold weather it must be warmer, in theory, for our region. This would stink. Bad. However, the graphs that I found that display typical La Nina wind flow portrays cooler/colder a...

Re: Major Hurricane Irma: Approaching Leeward Islands
This summer we were fortunate to have our vacation in the Turks and Caicos Islands. This buzzsaw of a beast, Irma, looks like it is going to lay waste to TCI and most of the Bahamas. Just praying, praying, praying that a turn northward and a recurve out to the Atlantic happens sooner rather than lat...

Re: August 2017: Typical August WX/ Tracking The Tropics
Looking back through this thread...wow. From Friday August 18. This one really hits home. This is why we look to the forecasts of weather and are so blessed to have the pro mets here that talk to us about it, explain it and let us know what could POSSIBLY happen so we can be prepared IF it happens. ...

Re: August 2017: Tracking Harvey/Catastrophic Flooding/Torna
Driving in from Anderson to College Station this morning, a lot has changed from yesterday. Numerous snapped trees on County Roads north of 90, must have been a wind event during the overnight hours as they were not there yesterday afternoon. Holland Creek and Spring Creek are well out of bank along...

Re: August 2017: Tracking Harvey/Coastal Impacts/Inland Floo
As a complete novice, just looking at the visible imagery, this thing appears to be beginning to have influence over the entire southern Gulf. Cloud circulation is far, far outside the center of the low pressure.

Re: Not weather related, but need help!
Are you specifically looking for flat or more mountainous? The reason I ask is that my daughter had a Jetta and it would handle most anything with ease. More flat would be head due west out I-10 and then cut up through Arizona, Utah/Nevada between ranges and head into Oregon and Washington. Or, you ...
