Re: September 2021

Since we are in a lull for the moment, I can't resist. Some of the conversations on here are just too out there to believe at times. https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/000/842/755/493.jpg Agreed. Lately I feel like I'm back in Arizona <inside joke>. Dozens of useless posts per day cause m...

Re: August 2021: Watching the NW Caribbean/Western Gulf

Yeah I have been following him (dating back to KTRH radio days) for 30+ years. He's a combination of weather expertise and entertainment for the uninformed. He can be a hypemaster... but when he says to evacuate the platforms, the oil companies do it. Which is expensive for them to do. And if he'd m...

Re: January 2021

Anyone else find it interesting that Tropikal stopped posting a week or two ago, and then suddenly there is someone who acts just like him but takes a 180 on stances regarding cold weather? LOL I was already thinking that lol Yeah srain banned AZ a few years ago. A mod needs to play whack-a-mole it...

Re: July 2020

I started the day with a forecast of 80% likely heavy rain. Not a drop so far... and the forecast as of this message is 70% likely rain for this afternoon/evening. Current radar says no-way. I'm not blaming the local NWS folks, just the models they rely on. How can they miss so bigly?

If you'd like to have a little chuckle, check out today's official forecast for Wixon Valley, and then look at the current radar.

I got more rain (0.79") in one hour this morning than I've had in total since mid July. That was rough.

Re: October cold front--time for change....

It appears to me from my untrained eye that the 12Z Euro has that NW Caribbean crawler headed toward the TX coast until the front in question actually comes all the way through and causes it to curve toward FL. So if there is skepticism (which I share) that the front makes it through... does that op...

Re: October cold front--time for change....

I do see the ECMWF/GFS are suggesting a robust monsoonal/Central America gyre developing as October begins. Conditions in the Western Caribbean and portions of the Gulf could be rather favorable for tropical development as a new month begins. The Eastern Pacific is another favorable location, parti...

The "bands" feeding in from the northwest appear to be developing some spotty showers. Maybe she won't stay completely asymmetric after all.

Re: September 2019 - Imelda Weakens. Flash Flood Watch/Heavy Rainfall Threat

So far, huge bust roughly north and west of downtown Houston. All the heavy stuff is south and east. No 30” for Waller, no widespread 20” for NW Harris...but that’s a good thing. I’d like to get some rain out of this though - geez. It is finally raining harder than a sprinkle here, and the core fin...
