Re: JANUARY 2018 - Winter Storm/Hard Freeze Warnings
1983. Really bad. By far... in my opinion. Because it was so under-forecasted... and so extreme. Almost no precip. But... Just imagine out-of-town Christmas family coming to town. Power fails. Attic pipes start breaking. I still have nightmares from that one. All that said... I am enjoying this &quo...

Re: JUNE 2016: Showers/Storms Possible
I don't know which model our local NWS office tends to prefer... but they ought to reevaluate its use. FORTY PERCENT CHANCE for my local grid today? Really? We got squat. I'm starting to use commercial services more and more... as I think most will do when their livelihood depends on accurate foreca...

Re: JUNE 2016: Showers/Storms Possible
It is getting really cloudy and windy here in Stafford. Love watching the summer storms come in. Enough rain to keep the flowers and ponds happy, cool the temps a bit, though temporarily, but not too much water to flood homes and rivers. Color me jealous. This is the 20th day here with nothi...

Re: February 2016: Windy & Cooler. More Rain Next Week?
Looks like the models and forecasters busted pretty bad with this last system. The heaviest rain was supposed to be across the NE, but it was actually the opposite, mostly to the SW: http://www.srh.noaa.gov/images/fxc/hgx/graphicast/image_full1.png It was obvious they didn't have a handle on the si...

Re: December 2015 - Changeable Weather Pattern
As this storm lifts out I am now at the SIXTY-FIVE INCH mark for the year. Which is almost exactly THREE TIMES my total from 2011. I've never seen so much green in December. I may have to mow this week.

Best to just not respond and eventually it will figure it's blocked by all ... and either fade into trolling or go off to ruin another board.

Re: September 2015 Weather Thread
I measured just over 8" in August, bringing my total to 50.98" for the year at the end of August. Another .7" this morning. Well-then, you had more this morning than I measured since July 4. Actually 50% more. Technically we're both in the same CWA. [Ed Mahmoud was quick to deb...

That said it's still a long way out and it has to survive to hostile conditions before Dan...

Forecast bust for my location = 100% :x I know, Steve, you'll have many valid and understandable reasons for their misstep... but I just feel that the latest crop of "forecasters" rely almost completely on models , which is unfortunate. After today's fail, and with this new Interwebs...

We've been trained-on big time for the last 2 nights. 4.5" Tuesday, 4.3" last night. But since this was the first real rain of June, the area's handled it pretty well.

Re: JUNE 2015 -Heavy Rainfall Possible Into Early Next Week
The National Hurricane Center is now monitoring the disturbance that the computer models have been suggesting may develop over the weekend into early next week in the Western Gulf of Mexico. This non-severe, widespread-rainfall setup would be ideal for this area right now (in my opinion). As always...
