Re: July 2019: Barry Makes Landfall/Louisiana Flood Threat

Just had a little shower pass through; and, still have dark skies off to the East. I will take this welcome cloud cover and just enough rain to water the plants! :)

Re: Welcome Everyone!

Yay! I made it over! I've been out of town for the last week, and just now got a chance to "find my way home". The new site looks great. I look forward to details on making contributions. :)

Re: Update: KHOU Weather Forum IS Back..for now

Oh Thank Goodness, it's back, if only for a little while...For all of us "out in the sticks" this forum is extremely important. We are too far out to be considered "Houston". It's always helpful to check into the forum and see what is going on in Bedias, College Station, etc... I...

Re: Blue Water in Galveston

I saw pictures, again this morning, of the blue/clear water around the pleasure pier. I had read someone's explanation that the clear water around Memorial Day was caused by Hurricane Alberto's track. Given that there isn't any type of tropical disturbance, this week, I was just curious if there was...

Blue Water in Galveston

I've checked here a few times in the last week to see if anyone is posting about the abnormally Blue Water in Galveston. I am curious if there is a weather-related explanation for this phenomena?

Re: FEBRUARY 2018 - Warming Trend/Weekend Stalling Cold Fron

I swear I'm beginning to talk with a British accent! Although I've not visited London, I feel as if our current weather pattern has me living there. It will be so nice to see some sunshine! I'm not looking forward to the heat of summer; but, a mild spring would be wonderful! :)

Re: December 2017: Christmas Cold / Ice Across Texas?

Responding to TxLady about your exterior hose bibs. It is always wise to plan to cover and protect those each year. Last December we had a surprise hard freeze when the forecast lows were the mid 20's and I ended up with 19F which wreaked havoc on outdoor irrigation systems and exposed water lines ...

Re: December 2017: Christmas Cold / Ice Across Texas?

Quick question regarding preps for icy weather: I have an outside faucet on a brick veneer wall. The whole length of the brick wall is covered by a holly hedge about 2'-3' deep by 5' tall. Does the holly hedge provide any insulation to the water spigot on that wall, during freezing/icy weather? The ...

Re: October 2015 - Warming Up. No Sign Of A Pattern Change

I'm so thankful that last Saturday's weather was absolutely perfect for my get-together. But, I'm really starting to wonder if/when the much advertised pattern-change will begin. We need some rain. The cooler temps have been sneaking in; but, there hasn't been much moisture. After the Spring we had,...

Re: September 2015: Warm & Dry Weather Continues

Okay, I know I'm asking for an "October-Beyond 10 Days" forecast, BUT...there's not a topic for it, yet! :) What does the crystal ball say for the first weekend in October? I'm hosting an event, that will hopefully be outside. Really looking forward to a nice cool Saturday Oct. 3 evening! ...

Re: August 2015 Weather - will the heat continue?

Well, surprisingly enough, the past two mornings have actually been very pleasant outside. I love these very subtle hints that cooler weather is on it's way. They are fleeting; but, they are here! :)

And, hopefully how quickly that 2 months of summer will pass! Just 2 months ago we were struggling with excessive rainfall. I'm hoping by Sept. 20, I'm thinking about stocking up on some firewood! :)

Re: May 2015 Flash Flood Potential Wednesday/Heavy Rainfall

The really bad storms came through around 4:30, this morning. I thought we'd be in the clear by now. But, in the last 10 minutes, or so, it has started thundering loudly & frequently, AGAIN! :(

Re: May 2015: Historic Flood Event/Flash Flood Emergency

I know everyone is worn out from last night, and this morning's flooding, but what can we expect for the rest of the day/week? There has been some talk of a possible hurricane impacting the Western Coast of Mexico and eventually making our lives miserable at the end of the week. Is that still a poss...
