Re: February Winter Weather Discussion. Wintry Precip Possible?
1:5 means for every inch of liquid precipitation is equivalent to about 5 inches of snow. And for 1:10 ratios means for every 1 inch of liquid theres about 10 inches of snow.sleetstorm wrote:Candy Cane, please translate what 1:5 and 1:10 means as far as for the type of snowflakes.

Re: More Cold Air On The Way In Mid/Late February For TX/OK/LA?
Just when i thought the models were starting to agree the European switched to a weaker and warmer scenario while the GFS still advertises a winter storm for Texas... :/ Local NWS explains the situation pretty good... LONG RANGE...YOUR GUESS IS AS GOOD AS MINE. THE 18Z AND 00Z RUN OF THE GFS IS RATH...

The 12z Euro looks nice once again even though it's in 24hr intervals so its hard to see exactly finer details but setup is definitely there for another Texas winter storm if you believe the European and UKmet models.

The Canadian may be picking up on what the European is showing...
And the Euro shows the moisture gown by the time the air gets cold enough for anything frozen in southeast Texas...

Re: More cold air on the way next week!?
Not quiet a decade yet as the last time it was right for something that far out was the Christmas 2004 smowstorm...FWIW
But anyway I would like to see the GFS latch on to a winterstorm like the euro before i start buying into snything.

Re: Cold weather has arrived with cold rain on the way...
Yea what the CMC suggest is that the low tracks closer to the coast and there for we get under the cold core of the low as rain changes to snow on the backside of the system similar to the 2008 snow event. But i dont think that will happen though...
