Re: March: Slight Risk Severe Storms Friday. Nice Weekend

Here in College Station it's very warm and humid, with plenty of sunshine helping to destabilize the atmosphere even more. Should be an interesting late afternoon around here!

Re: January: Strong Arctic Front/Winter Storm Warning/Adviso

I know everyone is focused on the potential event that is at our doorstep, but we are near the end of January and a new month is just ahead. The teleconnection indices as well as the various Global operational and ensemble guidance is suggesting a very active early February with additional wintry p...

Re: January: Strong Arctic Front/Winter Storm Warning/Adviso

Looks like hi-res NAM is doing the best job so far, especially on picking up on that early precip in West Texas. You think College Station could possibly get up to an inch of snow tonight Andrew? too early to tell what will happen. Also we need to check what the kcll sounding at 6z says Can you ple...

Yep I just went outside and saw it! You still think we will transition to all snow here before it ends in a few hours?

They were getting light sleet earlier, but I'm not sure about now.
What's it doing on campus right now? Did enough sleet fall earlier to accumulate at all?

I don't understand how I haven't seen any sleet yet. Areas to my south, north, west, and east have all been getting some. Even a few miles away from me has. When will I?

Re: January: Arctic Front Thursday & Winter Storm Warning

Just saw a comparison sounding from the 00z University of Houston's and models. The actual sounding has more of a sub-freezing area aloft than the Rapid Update Cycle model thinks there is, and the freezing level is closer to the surface than the RUC thinks. This increases the chance of sleet vs. fr...

I haven't seen any sleet yet and I'm a few miles east of campus. Weird how I haven't seen any yet and you're getting a...

Re: January: Arctic Front Thursday & Winter Storm Warning

Heavy IP at HWY 6 and OSR Jeff, when is the changeover expected to occur in CLL? Still 35 and just rain here. Haven't seen any sleet yet. It is going to bounce all around all night between ZR/IP/SN You don't think there will be a changeover to mainly sleet/snow? I am hoping for at least .50 inch of...
