Re: April 2016 - Cut Off Upper Low/Trough/Flood Emergency
Radar looks concerning to me. It looks like E-W bands trying to setup to the west, with storms training in them.

Re: April 2016 - Cut Off Upper Low/Trough/Flood Emergency
The latest HRRR and HRRR experimental sorta just slowly dissipate everything through tomorrow morning. Radar trends suggest a slow increase to the W and SW, at least for now.

Re: April 2016 - Cut Off Upper Low/Trough/Flood Emergency
It didn't show the development last night, either. It had an MCS moving in from Central Texas towards sunrise.
I guess it depends on if SW flow and the LLJ can get re-established. If not tonight, perhaps tomorrow?

Re: April 2016 - Cut Off Upper Low/Trough/Heavy Rainfall Thr
Incredible rains and lightning here. Nonstop. Power has been on and off - off again. It's also hailing in the heavier downpours. Wow.

Re: April 2016 - Cut Off Upper Low/Trough/Heavy Rainfall Thr
GFS now has the greatest totals in two areas, one from Montgomery County into San Jacinto County, and the other along the coast in Matagorda County. Like others have said, the global models are pretty much pointless to pinpoint exact locations, but the common theme is a heavy 15"+ somewhere, an...

Re: April 2016 - Cut Off Upper Low/Trough/Heavy Rainfall Thr
Latest Euro and GFS not nearly as widespread with the heavy rains over Houston, and shifted the heavy stuff mostly to the SW towards Jackson/Wharton/Matagorda counties.

Re: April 2016 - Cut Off Upper Low/Trough/Heavy Rainfall Thr
The GFS still has the biggest bullseye just to the west (Columbus to Bellville) with 18", and another one down south in Galveston/Brazoria counties. The Euro is just insane crazy with two 8-10" bullseyes W and NW of Houston, but the mother lode is in SE Polk County with over 25"! Let'...

Re: April 2016 - Cut Off Upper Low/Trough/Heavy Rainfall Thr
Good Discussion from NWS - Houston/Galveston: .LONG TERM /SUNDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/... THE MAIN FOCUS FOR THE LONG TERM PORTION OF THE FORECAST CONTINUES TO BE THE POTENTIAL FOR HEAVY RAIN AND SEVERE WEATHER TO OCCUR ACROSS PORTIONS OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS. AS THE UPPER LOW NOW NEAR THE FOUR CORNERS NUDGE...

Re: April 2016 - Cut Off Upper Low/Trough/Heavy Rainfall Thr
Well, what's interesting is that the Euro happens to show the heaviest rainfall axis a bit further east, with the bullseye right over Liberty County with 13 inches through Wednesday.

A day of watching satellite loops. Already some clearing noted to the SW. With the April sun, the stratus deck may get burned off. We'll see...

Re: March 2016 -Slight Risk Severe Storms Friday/Turning Coo
The front has moved back north of me and sun is peeking out - it's starting to feel pretty muggy outside.
You can really see the main cold front barreling down on the visible satellite loops, too.

Re: March 2016 -Warm WX Returns. Possible Late Week Front
Great weather yesterday for the drive down from Dallas. I have Spring Fever and can't wait for pool season. I think I might celebrate and grill streaks tonight while I soak-in the extra daylight and lovely weather in my shorts. To each his own.
