Re: August 2020: Tracking The Busy Tropics
What's yalls gut feeling for the next NHC cone update at 10pm? Doubtful NHC will make any large adjustments to its track. Might not change much at all, honestly. Evening runs have been in fairly good agreement with the cone they have right now. Especially with respect with the 18z GFS and 18z Euro ...

Re: August 2020: Tracking The Busy Tropics
Looks like laura is having a center relocation further south Yes, it could have implications on Laura's future track. I'm thinking the center relocation is further south as well. -80/90C cloud tops blossoming. Hard to tell without visible, but I don't see a llc north of DR. Clearly a mid-level circ...

Re: August 2020: Tracking The Busy Tropics
I'm not sure which two graphics you're talking about. If you're talking about the forecast cone for both storms, they won't update those until 10pm. The 7pm was just an Intermediate advisory.

Re: August 2020: Tracking The Busy Tropics
:?: Question: When or how early will they begin issuing watches along the TX/La coastline? Tropical Storm/Hurricane watches will be issued 48-hours beforehand. Warnings are issued 36-hours. So earliest watches would be issued for TX coastline would likely not be till Sunday afternoon/evening. Marco...

Re: August 2020: Tracking The Busy Tropics
Wasn't expecting that I was....called it yesterday. Nothing stays tropical storm in August anymore once it reaches the Gulf....wouldnt be surprised to see the number 2 pop up.... Im not surprised about the hurricane forecast I just wasn't expecting them to pull the trigger on that this soon. I thin...

Re: August 2020: Tracking The Busy Tropics
Biggest unknown will be the amount of mid-level dry air this may ingest once it approaches the northern/central Gulf coast along with the shear. However, I'm not too inclined to believe that TD14 will begin weakening as it approaches the upper TX/LA coast as models have been showing. I see the NHC n...

Re: July 2020
Little surprised the SPC doesn't have the marginal risk to further include more of SETX. Helicity is on the increase and environment looks rather favorable for quick spin-ups through late this afternoon. I do see the mesoscale discussion does have Harris, Liberty and Chambers county included in that...

Re: July 2020
Last few hours have shown quite a bit of improvement. Starting to tighten up and banding/outflow looking better and better with each frame. Hopefully we can get recon out there soon... still no word on why they cancelled this morning or when the next flight is. Looking at buoy observations, still in...

Re: July 2020
Not sure what to make of the 6z hurricane models. They both are significantly stronger and much further n towards Sargent. Though the HWRF definitely shows a weird track. Curious if they will be mentioned in the next disco. Stronger system would go more north, weaker system would go more south. At ...

Re: July 2020
No big changes overnight as it is still pretty disorganized. The NHC has shifted their cone southward and no longer includes the greater Houston area. I saw last night recon was going to be heading out again around 4:45AM but I don't see anything on TT that they left. Delayed till later this morning...

Re: July 2020
QPF will largely depend on how Invest 91L gets its act together and location of landfall. Though with SETX likely being on the eastern side of this system, heavy rainfall and even flooding is possible. WPC increasing rainfall totals - mainly just offshore. Where the training feeder bands set up will...

Re: July 2020
91l looks very disorganized this morning..think recon will be cancelled again? My hunch is recon will fly out there today. Looking at visible this morning there is clearly low level convergence in all four quadrants under the deep convection that is bubbling up right now. Looks like the 'center' is...

Re: July 2020
I've come to enjoy the heat more than the cold the last few years, but can definitely forgo what we've seen the last week. Flirting with a 600dm ridge along with the Gulf humidity makes it just downright miserable. Anytime we are in a pattern like this for 7-10 days makes me wary it could become lon...
