The 12Z EURO has strong ridging in place keeping the cold air from moving through.Of course models typically underestimate the density of shallow cold air in this range though.

One thing that may be different with this system compared to the storm earlier this month.Is the large snowpack that will be in the plains and Rockies.That could potentially allow the airmass to not modify as much this time.

Yep i agree,late next week looks to be yet another winter storm setup for Texas.Like you mentioned, we would need the SE ridge to be weaker or further east to get any wintry precip down here though.Stay tuned as changes are likely.

The 0Z GFS and 0Z CMC get close to showing a snow event fwiw.

It's associated with a strong and deep trough models are showing mid month.Could be anything from a severe weather setup to a winter storm depending on if we have any arctic air available.Something to watch for sure.

Yep the 12Z GFS has the system more sheared.If everything can come together this could be a nice setup for snow here.Interesting days ahead maybe.
