Usually weak to moderate Eastern Equatorial or Modoki El Nino tend to have colder winters. 1972-1973 had a strong Eastern Equatorial El Nino. It was not a super Eastern Equatorial El Nino.

Niño 4 -0.1ºC
Niño 3.4 0.1ºC
Niño 3 0.6ºC
Niño 1+2 1.4ºC

All regions warmed, except for Region 1+2, which cooled.
