Re: ENSO Updates
If PDO cooperates, which the forecasts seem to think so, we could be in for a doozy of a winter.DoctorMu wrote: ↑Tue Aug 01, 2023 1:08 pmLooks like a robust El Niño.Ptarmigan wrote: ↑Mon Jul 31, 2023 8:48 pmThis Week's ENSO

Re: ENSO Updates
Looks like a strong El Nino. If it was fall and winter, the effects would be obvious. Warm PDO usually tends to have more winter weather events.MontgomeryCoWx wrote: ↑Tue Aug 01, 2023 5:26 pmIf PDO cooperates, which the forecasts seem to think so, we could be in for a doozy of a winter.DoctorMu wrote: ↑Tue Aug 01, 2023 1:08 pmLooks like a robust El Niño.Ptarmigan wrote: ↑Mon Jul 31, 2023 8:48 pmThis Week's ENSO

Re: ENSO Updates
Im curious, why does a warmer PDO lead to more winter weather events around here?

Re: ENSO Updates
Warm PDO helps to amplify ridges and supply the fuel for deep digging troughs.Stratton20 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 01, 2023 8:35 pmIm curious, why does a warmer PDO lead to more winter weather events around here?

Re: ENSO Updates
Critical for the time of cold air and moisture. Some La Niña winter blasts are colder, but the moisture is not in place.MontgomeryCoWx wrote: ↑Tue Aug 01, 2023 9:16 pmWarm PDO helps to amplify ridges and supply the fuel for deep digging troughs.Stratton20 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 01, 2023 8:35 pmIm curious, why does a warmer PDO lead to more winter weather events around here?
