Certainly nothing like the Canadian is showing. The other models are showing cold air, but not snow and ice to the gulf coast.

Cold New Years Eve? The ECMWF roll of the dice today say maybe with a 1054 High over Wyoming. Any takers?

FYI: GOES 16 now known as GOES East is back up on College of DuPage. Good to see these awesome images again after it's transition to a new position. GOES 17 is due to launch early next year.

Remember the CMC nailed the snow event two weeks ago.

Let me think about it for a minute. NO.

God I hope so, but I’m not holding my breath. Wake me up on the 26th and if it is still showing that, I’ll get excited.

My fees are reasonable.Heat Miser wrote:Blake, you know that'll change. I mean how many times have the models flip flopped in the last few days? So many times that not one person in this forum has any realistic idea what the weather will be in a week from now. We will know about two days from the commencement of the event, if an event is to occur. Models, models, models.KHOU BLake wrote:00z GFS has BOMBED! Wintry weather to the gulf coast now and snow in New Orleans by Christmas. 1058+mb high building in out of Canada and the polar vortex setting up shop in the northern plaines with 480 thickness into Minnesota.
Don't get too attached. No model looks like the next but it's encouraging if you like cold weather.
We've all seen this way too many times to buy into models a week or two out to actually believe what they've modeled will come to fruition. Look what these model runs predicted and what's going to happen. Nothing nearly as extreme as advertised.
I dont see anything anywhere that is impressing me for through jan 5 at least...
what time today will the front come through se texas? later tonight or this evening?
I think SE TX gets it this evening.

Temp differences are pretty dramatic with the frontal passage. 70 in College Station/ 56 in Temple and 39 in Stephenville. Pretty impressive.
