Haven't been this happy for rain in a while. Radar is doing a good job of showing 50-60kt winds just east of Houston racing south/southeast. Pretty impressive line overall.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Houston/Galveston TX
1235 PM CDT Tue Jul 31 2018

.AVIATION...
A strong to severe storm is currently progressing through IAH and
approaching HOU and SGR. Winds in excess of 50 knots are possible
in some areas with torrential rainfall, frequent lightning, and
ponding on runways. Visibilities can get as low as 1/4 sm in the
heaviest areas. This storm should progress through the southern
terminals through 20Z.

Outflow behind this storm, combined with other outflow boundaries
and the sea breeze, will allow shower and thunderstorm coverage to
continue through the early evening with gusty winds and heavy
rainfall. We return to VFR late this evening with calmer
northerly winds as a cold front passes through Southeast Texas.

Not much better in CLL. Less than 2 inches in June and July. Elm trees next door are shedding leaves.
