Typhoon Kammuri in the West Pacific Ocean, with record cold cloud-top temperatures

Typhoon Kammuri produced the coldest recorded cloud-top temperature. It is a low of -109.35ºC or -164.83ºF! It shatters the record set by -102.2ºC or -151.96ºF with Tropical Cyclone Hilda in 1990 off the coast of Australia.

There cold cloud tops in a thunderstorm in November 2008 over Northern Australia.

It had cloud top of -102.95ºC or -153.31ºF. Talk about an intense thunderstorm! :shock: :o

I wonder how that’s even possible. Never seen anything like that.
