As bad as it was it could have been worse. What if Beta hit our area as a hurricane then rode the coast? Laura if it followed the western model/ensembles and hit Hou as a 4/5? New Orleans was the target several times in modeling too for the hurricanes.

From a local perspective, we definitely got lucky with the 2020 Hurricane Season. There were a couple of close calls that would have resulted in devastating destruction across one of the most populated regions of the country. Still, several parts of the country got hit hard, but it definitely could have been a lot worse.

By a hair. The margin of error on those hurricane tracks is very small.

It's also very interesting how Florida has seen less and less tropical activity as of late. It seems like over the last couple of years the mix of SAL, shear, and a stronger Bermuda high have resulted in a lot more Western Caribbean/Gulf of Mexico activity. Something to monitor this hurricane season too.

It is rather interesting Florida did not get ravaged by hurricanes. 2020 was really cruel to Louisiana.

Is this that where 2021 says "hold my beer"?
