Getting wind gust over 50mph now... Hobby NW 24 G 51 mph Now over 86,000 without power in the centerpoint area now. Preliminary wind gust from the NWS, showing the university of Houston measured a gust of 63mph! Impressive for non storm winds around here.
We have power up here in The Woodlands but it has been flickering all afternoon long. [I feel very fortunate!]
We lost power for 5 min in CLL. I was freaking out, because I just picked up my main home office computer yesterday, after it was sidelined for a month because of damage due to power surges.
Something to watch is the disturbance coming in with the cold front next week.Global models have gotten a little more aggressive with it and are showing cyclogenisis taking place.Forming potentially our first Gulf Low of the season. And could be a heavy rain threat depending on parameters.

Seems like the GFS is really struggling with the cold air entering the US next week, never really understood why cold air seems to be something this model doesnt pick up well on

Basically every model drops the cold in the mid range. It’s not just the GFS that does that. Models have been doing that for as long as I can remember.
Canadian is bringing a couple of nights (Fri, Sat) that could see our first frost on the ground. No real freeze though as grass cools faster than the air.
