The 1982-83 South Pacific Cyclone Season featured a total of 14 named tropical cyclones, many of which became powerful storms. Cyclones Mark, Nisha-Orama, Oscar, Rewa, Tomnasi, Veena, and William all reached Category 3 status (SSHWS) and most of those exceeded that strength. Our reanalysis team has looked into the season and our latest animation of the season depicts what our team has found within this incredible South Pacific Cyclone Season.
1982-1983 had a strong El Nino. The South Pacific produces many intense tropical cyclones.

1997-1998 had a strong El Nino. It is the most active season recorded.
