Layers, grasshopper. Layers.
I’m about to layer-up for an HEB run. The family is craving chicken and dumplings. Layering is such a pain. It’s a process and I don’t have patience for that. It was my daily routine for three seasons every year out on the high plains. I don’t miss it.
You don't need layers as thick and bulky with thermal underwear. Absolutely critical for snow skiing, especially in the Appalachians where it's a wet cold vs. Colorado..

When it's 100°F up in CLL there's only so many clothes one can remove.

I never complain about "cold" in Tejas.

It definitely is hotter up there in the summer. I’m ok with the heat to about 100, although the older I get, upper 90’s is starting to feel uncomfortable too. Escaping the regular triple digits is one of the reasons why we left the Metroplex. Just too hot up there in summer. Same with Austin. But that’s what pools are for :)

Sitka base layers with merino wool and you can run in single digit weather with ease.

Just put some shorts over then and maybe a long sleeve breathable shirt, and you’ll sweat going for a run in 30 degree weather

Sitka is great but outrageously expensive.

I've measured 1 Foot of snow, it was hard to do so because of the snowdrifts, I once found a 18 inch snowdrift.

Yes, but it’s the best IMO. You can try Mammamut or KULU too

It's already colder in Conroe and Houston than the expected low under clear skies.

The February '21 freeze was one for the ages. This weekend was a pretty typical cold snap that we see nearly every single winter at least once in Houston.

Another shot of cold air is fine with me. It’s going to hot soon enough here.

I think for the Houston area to get chance at Wintery precipitation, we would need to have our current atmosphere not warm back up into the 60s -70s this week. When the last front arrived, the cooling of the atmosphere took longer which is the reason we dodged major issue when the precipitation started to fall. It would be better if we got 1 cold front before the Feb-12-13 cold front.
