Indeed. This forum is a legacy to Dan Meador. Let's keep this forum.srainhoutx wrote:I was privileged to have a long conversation today with Doc. He recalled 21 years, as a team working closely and privately with Dan. One thing he stated was the importance of the Weather Forum. He restated what we all knew, that this was his joy! He would call Doc over to see a ‘post’ or something happening in the Forum. We agree that this Weather Forum is a tangible Legacy to Dan Meador, our friend.

I had the privilege of attending and speaking at a Celebration of Life yesterday for Dan. The gathering included 3 longtime Houston On Camera Meteorologists. I was honored to introduce Dr. Neil Frank as one of the other speakers that was attended by 250+ close friends and co workers. I hope to have a photo and a YouTube link to a Video Memorial of Dan’s life, later. It was an honor to meet some of our Weather Forum members as well. Also, Director Bill Read of the National Hurricane Center sent a very gracious e-mail to me and expressed his condolences. You never know who is reading our Weather Forum. A special thanks to the KHOU family and our 'powers that be' for all your help and assistance with video gathering/editing for Dan's Celebration of Life.

It has been almost two months now and I still find myself thinking it can't be reality.
RIP, Dan Meador. We all miss you on the forums so much.

Thanks for the post, AZ. We have different opinions about Dan in this short time since his passing. At least you posted something.
It may take me a year to get over it. Some things just never seem real. Maybe because, for the folks in the forum, it all happened so suddenly and fast. We only had a few days to think about it.
It seems everyone else is over it. Good for them..
Later, AZ.

Hey BB,
I am an official "lurker". I joined way back 4 years ago when I moved here to the KHOU area because I was afraid of what kind of weather we could go through in this area. I really looked forward to Dan's posts and they gave me the exact info I felt I needed to be safe. I was always comforted by his presence (as well as the posts by you guys and gals who are educated weather people). It was exactly the feeling I got by watching Dr. Neil on TV. I have thought of Dan many times, and enjoyed reading about his life and those who he touched. I just wanted to post, to encourage you. I am sure I am not the only "lurker" out here who misses him still.
Thanks for all you do BB!

It’s hard to believe it has been almost 3 years since Dan Meador lost his battle to cancer. Dan (wxdata) would have been celebrating his 62nd birthday today. We miss you my friend and we are still carrying on the torch you passed to us to discuss the weather, to nurture and grow this Weather Forum that you so loved and know that you are smiling at just how much we have accomplished as a team.

I cannot believe it has been three years since Dan Meador passed away. This forum has never been the same since.
