August 2022
I know we are just getting to the actual part of hurricane season, but I'm betting we don't see a single named system this month either.

August 1st is here! Hopefully this means wetter weather for us. Actually, temperatures are much cooler than they were a month ago. I'm starting to think we may (fingers crossed) have passed the worst of summer. Average highs will start to decrease in a few weeks (woohooooo)!
On another note, I have not ever talked on here about my career goals, but I am moving to Starkville, Mississippi on the 12th to pursue my bachelor's degree in Professional Meteorology at Mississippi State! So, while I will not be living in Texas, I will still continue to track weather and converse with the community, but I will be busy taking more than a full load this fall. It will also be fun to track tornadoes and other weather while I am living there.

Well I just drove through a nice little shower on Robinson Road. Big drops. But it was small. Just a couple of little sprinkles at the house though. Missed it by a mile.
Congratulations to you!! It will be a rewarding career!captainbarbossa19 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 12:44 pm August 1st is here! Hopefully this means wetter weather for us. Cromangum na we will, absolutely no way we go through the whole month without a named system
We have had August's with zero hurricanes about every 6-7 years. I can't say if any if those seasons also had no TS's.Stratton20 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 1:22 pm Cromangum na we will, absolutely no way we go through the whole month without a named system

Cromagnum while this is true, id doesn’t happen very often, id say around the 20th is when activity will begin to pick up, SAL is too prevalent right now but it usually starts to decrease by the end of the month, i would be shocked if we dont get at least 1-2 bamed storms

congratulations captainbarbossa19!
One more line along the sea breeze trying to form in Fort Bend headed towards Sugar Land.
It sure would be nice of they would build into a nice complex. Odds are it’ll fizzle though when it gets close to Spring Creek.

Thank you! One thing I forgot to mention is that snow happens way more frequently in Starkville so if I have some exciting winter weather, I will be sure to share!
