From everything I’m seeing, it looks like December is lining up to be pretty cold.

Someone on WxTwitter has mentioned that the GEFS forecast with the MJO is eerily similar to December 1983

Saw that the MJO is expected to go to Phase 8? What does that mean for US in terms of winter?

Okay, I'm now seriously concerned for December, this MJO forecast is eerily similar to 1983 and 1989!

1983, Green Line is November and the Blue line is December

1989, same color code

The CFS is consistent with an active pattern for mid to late December.

There’s a guy on YouTube that goes by the name Weatherman Plus that said he thinks mid to late December will be warm because the AO is forecasted to go positive. Don’t really know how much stock I put into that because I’ve heard it will be cold from just about everywhere else.

Ryan Hall Y'all has definitely settled down since last year, he does admit that he does like to get crazy excited for snow. His 6-7 foot snowfall forecast near Buffalo, NY verified.

When it comes to Livestreams, he's an absolute legend!

Longest streak ever of sub freezing weather.

My hometown in Longview was below freezing for 9 days I believe.

I think Houston was 72 hours plus.

I was a high school freshman at Pearland and it was a very chilly Christmas. A brief summary from Space City Weather:

December 1983
Coldest temperature: 11° on 12/25
Nights at or below freezing: 12, including 11 in a row to close the month.

The December 1983 cold wave was another hall of fame event for Houston. We closed the month with 11 straight mornings below freezing, including four full days that failed to crack above 32 degrees.

I was a senior in high school at Santa Fe. I can attest, December 1983 was the coldest I have been through for that long stretch of time.

December 1983 was very cold. It is one of the coldest Decembers recorded for most of America, including Texas.
